Jonathan Kuminga provided a boost off the bench with 26 points (11-of-23 FGs), three rebounds, two steals and three three-pointers in Game 5 against the Timberwolves on Wednesday.

For a player that was out of the rotation at times during this postseason, Kuminga may have earned himself a nice payday in the final four games of this series. Head coach Steve Kerr needed offense with Stephen Curry (hamstring) sidelined, and Kuminga was able to fill the void. He averaged 24.3 points on 55.4 percent shooting in Games 2-5. Kuminga is set to be a restricted free agent, and even if it isn’t the Warriors handing him a big contract, the 22-year-old should be able to find a team to pay him.

Jonathan Kuminga had 30 points (11-of-18 FGs), six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three three-pointers against the Timberwolves in Game 3 on Saturday.

It’s no secret that the Warriors are desperate for offense without Stephen Curry (hamstring) in the lineup. While Buddy Hield has done an admirable job stepping up in these playoffs, Kuminga has easily had his two best games since Curry went out. The 22-year-old power forward had 18 points in 26 minutes in Game 2 and 30 points in 36 minutes in Game 3. While the Warriors lost both games, beggars can’t be choosers and Golden State has to be happy with that production. The Warriors are going to need to extend this series to at least six games for Curry to potentially return to the court. Kuminga is likely to continue to be a factor as Golden State tries to steal one of the next two games.

Jonathan Kuminga (illness) has been ruled out for Game 5 against the Rockets on Wednesday.

Kuminga is a late addition to the injury report, but his absence won’t have an impact on the Warriors’ rotation. He has only seen the floor when Jimmy Butler has missed time, but Butler is expected to play on Wednesday.

Jonathan Kuminga tallied 11 points (4-of-12 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, two assists, one block and two three-pointers in 26 minutes in Wednesday’s Game 2 loss to the Rockets.

During Game 1, multiple outlets reported that Kuminga was unlikely to crack the Warriors’ rotation unless there was a need to adjust the game plan. That adjustment was forced on Wednesday, as Brandin Podziemski was ill and Jimmy Butler exited during the first quarter with a pelvic contusion. As a result, Kuminga was back in the rotation after sitting out Golden State’s last three games. While the stat line wasn’t impressive, the Warriors may have to rely on him for Game 3 on Saturday, depending on Butler’s availability.
