This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.
The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.
The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.
The stacks section will bring you are favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

MLB DFS Picks & MLB Playbook
MLB Weather: Tuesday, 5/27
Minnesota Twins @ Tampa Bay Rays
It's going to be hot, again, in Tampa as it's going to be hovering around 90 degrees right around first pitch.
Colorado Rockies @ Chicago Cubs
There is cold weather and winds blowing in today. It's going to be tough to hit home runs and it's good pitching weather overall.
Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers
Let's get into today's core pitching plays for our DFS lineups
Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Carlos Rodon, New York Yankees
This is the best version of Carlos Rodon the Yankees have had and could it possibly be because they changed their beard policies? You heard it here first. Rodon's been insane, posting a 31% K-rate as he's struck out 7+ in eight of his 11 starts. The Angels are 23rd in wOBA and 24th in wRC+ against lefties this year while also having a 27% K-rate. The one thing they do well is hit homers as they're 4th in ISO vs. LHP. I love Rodon here if he can keep the ball in the yard.
Hunter Brown, Houston Astros
We'll give him some grace here. He pitched in a minor league ballpark in the middle of the day. Hot, ball carries further. SO BE IT! Brown's been incredible this year. Brown has a 30.6% K-rate this year with an ERA barely over two and all of his hit outs are on the ground. The As are a pretty solid offense, ranking in the top half of the league in every category against righties.
Corbin Burnes, Arizona Diamondbacks
I think..Corbin Burnes is back? At least the strikeouts are. They look lefit. His last three games, Burnes has generated swinging strike rates of 16.7%, 20.4%, and 12.1% and in his eight strikeout game against the Rays, it was 11.2%. The only other double-digit swinging strike rate he had was the first game of the year and he happened to have eight punch outs. The Pirates matchup is fantastic as they rank 29th in OPS, wOBA, and wRC+ while ranking 30th in ISO. They also strikeout nearly 22% of the time. Love the ownership discount we can get on Burnes versus the other starters.
Tylor Megill, New York Mets
Strikeouts + Good matchup + strikeouts in a good matchup = Good play for our DFS lineups. Megill has a very high ceiling if he can get through enough innings to qualify for a win.
Cade Horton, Chicago Cubs
It's been a mixed bag of results from Cade Horton so far but today's meeting against the Rockies is as good as it gets. The weather is great for pitching and the Rockies are the worst team in baseball and they strike out a lot.
Taj Bradley, Tampa Bay Rays
It's been a weird season for Taj Bradley because his groundballs are up, flyballs are down, hard-hit rate is significantly lower, but his strikeouts are WAY down and so are his swinging strikes. The swinging strikes have looked better lately as he's twice been at 12% or better in his last three outings and in all three, he's been at 9.5% or higher. The strikeouts have been up over that span as well. He faces a mediocre Twins offense ranking 21st in wOBA and 18th in wRC+. If there was anyone under 8K I'd take a shot on, it's Bradley.
Recommended MLB DFS Hitters
Let's check out today's core plays to build our lineups around.
Core MLB DFS Hitters
Cubs, but how Many in Bad Weather?
So the matchup against German Marquez is undeniably great. Righties are hitting .326 with a .399 wOBA while lefties are hitting .300 with a .362 wOBA against him. That being said, there is really bad hitting weather, but will it hurt the Cubs THAT bad?
Here's some of the numbers for Cubs vs. RHP;
- Pete Crow-Armstrong: .310 ISO, .407 wOBA, 11 HR
- Kyle Tucker: .229 ISO, .257 xISO, .368 wOBA, .408 xwOBA, 7 HR
- Seiya Suzuki: .255 ISO, .336 wOBA, 8 HR
- Michael Busch: .229 ISO, .292 xISO, .379 wOBA, .402 xwOBA, 7 HR
- Dansby Swanson: .192 ISO, .219 xISO, .335 wOBA, .350 xwOBA, 8 HR
I also think Matt Shaw is in play, as is Reese McGuire if he's in the starting lineup.
Jarren Duran & Rafael Devers, Boston Red Sox
It's been a few years since Aaron Civale has gotten lefties out. It's an extremely small sample this year, but lefties have a .714 ISO and .557 wOBA thus far against him. Lefties had a .201 ISO against him last year as well. He faces off against a lefty-heavy top of the lineup for Boston as Jarren Duran and Rafael Devers headline things. Duran has a .189 ISO and a .364 wOBA against righties while Devers one ups those numbers at a .292 ISO and .418 wOBA.
I'd Like the Astros to Start Hitting Lefties Today
What gives out in this matchup today? The Astros have a lot of historically good hitters against lefties, but they have not been that in 2025. JP Sears is also struggling mightily against right-handed bats this year and the Astros have a LOT of them.
Righties have a .209 ISO, .227 xISO, .318 wOBA, .330 xwOBA, 48% FB, 1.68 HR/9 vs. Sears this year.
This years sample is small & the Astros haven't hit them well at ALL. BUT, Isaac Paredes, Jeremy Pena, Jose Altuve, Christian Walker, Jake Meyers, and Yainer Diaz all had a wOBA of .330 or higher.
Yankees..Meet Mr. Anderson
Tyler Anderson toes the rubber for the Angels on Tuesday and he's been, well, very lucky this year. He has a 3.60 ERA but a 4.92 SIERA and 5.15 xFIP while allowing a 53% FB rate.
Righties are hitting just .192 against Anderson yet, he's posted a completely unsustainable .195 BABIP and 5.32 xFIP against them. The .159 ISO versus the .195 xISO righties have don't line up. Lefties are crushing him, however, posting a .304 ISO and .398 wOBA.
Aaron Judge has a .727 ISO against lefties this year. Paul Goldschmidt sits at .405 ISO. Both Cody Bellinger and Anthony Volpe are also elite against left-handed pitching. Trent Grisham hasn't been bad and that's how I'd round out my Yankees stack if I could.
The Top-6 for Arizona
This is interesting and something I'm toying with full stacking. Arizona matches up with Mike Burrows who didn't look good in his debut and has had a very up and down career at the minor league level. As a starter this year, including both his MiLB and MLB numbers, he's allowed 8 HR and a .429 SLG%. He's not shy of allowing home runs.
That's really bad against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Arizona is first in ISO, OPS, and wOBA while ranking 3rd in wRC+ against right-handed pitching this year. Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte, Josh Naylor, Eugenio Suarez, Pavin Smith, and Lourdes Gurriel are ALL in play.

Player News
Ha-Seong Kim (calf) is absent from the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Twins.
No surprise here with the quick turnaround after Kim was lifted from his Rays debut on Friday with cramping in his right calf. Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash downplayed concern regarding the issue while speaking to reporters after the game, so fantasy managers shouldn’t be overly concerned. There’s a strong chance he’s ready for Sunday’s series finale. It’ll be defensive specialist Taylor Walls taking over at shortstop on Saturday afternoon in his absence.
Drew Pomeranz will start on Saturday against the Cardinals.
Fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate Pomeranz working more than an inning or two as Chicago’s opener in place of an injured Jameson Taillon (calf). However, he’s been phenomenal this season in his first stint in the big leagues since 2021, reeling off 23 1/3 consecutive scoreless frames over 26 appearances.
Willson Contreras is at first base and batting third on Saturday against the Cubs.
Contreras went 0-for-3 on Friday afternoon following a one-game absence after being hit by a pitch earlier this week on the left hand. It’s an encouraging sign heading into the weekend that he’s in St. Louis’ lineup for the second consecutive game against his former club and isn’t dealing with any lingering swelling or pain.
Ty France is on the bench for Saturday’s game against the Rays.
Kody Clemens gets the nod at first base to face Rays righty Taj Bradley on Saturday afternoon at Target Field. France has been scuffling of late, hitting .220 (11-for-50) with one homer over his last 15 games. He’s gone just 3-for-20 at the dish over his past seven contests.
Matt Chapman (hand) went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Sacramento.
Chapman appears likely to rejoin San Francisco’s lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Giants after getting five innings under his belt at the hot corner during Friday’s rehab contest. The 32-year-old defensive stalwart has been out since early June recovering from a right hand strain. There should be an official update on his status ahead of Saturday’s contest in Sacramento.
X-rays came back negative for any fractures on Lance McCullers Jr.'s left foot.
McCullers told reporters after firing six innings of one-run ball on Friday evening at Dodger Stadium that his left foot “went numb for a little while” after being struck by a line drive from Shohei Ohtani, but added that he managed to avoid serious injury. The 31-year-old should be ready to make his next start on Wednesday against the Guardians.
