MLB Weather Today, 9/24
A pop-up shower is expected north of the ballpark. Given that, we can't rule out a delay, but it's unlikely.
It looks like most of the rain will be pregame. During the game, the rain will be lighter and spotty. Chances are this game is played through it.
MLB DFS Optimizer & Lineup Generator Today
Below is a mock DraftKings classic slate lineup for the ten-game slate starting at 7:05 pm ET.
I've added my favorite MLB DFS picks below and used many different MLB DFS projections to put together this lineup.
With ten games, there's a lot to choose from. Feel free to pivot away from some of these players in the lineup if you feel strongly about someone else I've added to my player pool below.
Ultimately, adding a salary stuffer like Jack Kochanowicz could be massive tonight. It allows us to add top-tier players like Matt Olson. Carlos Correa, Fernando Tatis, and Manny Machado.

MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Starting Pitchers
Top Options For Strikeouts
- Framber Valdez (6.5, -105) vs. Seattle Mariners
- Brandon Pfaadt (6.5, +100) vs. San Francisco Giants
- Bailey Ober (6.5, +100) vs. Miami Marlins
- Nathan Eovaldi (6.5, +120) vs. Oakland Athletics
- Bowden Francis (5.5, -155) vs. Boston Red Sox
- Clarke Schmidt (5.5, -130) vs. Baltimore Orioles
Best Odds For A Win
- Nathan Eovaldi (+120) vs. Oakland Athletics
- Bailey Ober (+135) vs. Miami Marlins
- Spencer Schwellenbach (+145) vs. New York Mets
- Logan Gilbert (+145) vs. Houston Astros
MLB DFS Lineups: Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Logan Gilbert, Seattle Mariners
Logan Gilbert has struck out 36.9% of batters over the last 30 days. I'm not guaranteeing he will do that against the Astros. However, he's facing an Astros projected lineup that has only hit a .168 ISO and wOBA of .317.
It's unlikely the Astros have Yordan Alvarez in the lineup, so only Kyle Tucker and Jon Singleton have really done damage against righties with this projected group.
Meanwhile, Gilbert has held his last 122 batters to a .266 wOBA, earning nearly 16% of swinging strikes while giving up under 26% of fly balls. I don't always recommend fading the Astros. Yet, the MLB DFS projections believe Gilbert will have a solid performance tonight.
Brandon Pfaadt, Arizona Diamondbacks
Brandon Pfaadt has been a little unlucky recently. The Arizona righty has struck out 29.5% of batters and has allowed just 7.1% of walks over the last 30 days.
Yet, he's still allowed a .180 ISO and wOBA of .385 to his last 112 batters.
Pfaadt has even earned 47.1% of ground balls against righties.
He'll battle a Giants lineup that should have eight batters with a high strikeout rate against righties in the last 30 days. Pfaadt should add a bunch of strikeouts tonight. But he's also facing a Giants group that has hit just a .294 wOBA with a strikeout rate of 27.1%.
With the Diamondbacks fighting for an NL Wild Card spot, look for Pfaadt to deliver.
Jack Kochanowicz, Los Angeles Angels
You can never go wrong with fading the White Sox.
The right-handed Jack Kochanowicz will take the hill for the Angels tonight. He's not a heavy strikeout thrower. However, he's held his last 99 batters to a .140 ISO and wOBA of .320 and has induced 45.7% of ground balls with only 17.3% of fly balls allowed.
Meanwhile, he'll take on a White Sox projected lineup that has hit a .108 ISO and wOBA of .254 with 27.5% of strikeouts and only 4% of walks over the last 30 days against righties.
Kochanowicz is a solid sleeper at a low price. It's one of the MLB DFS plays I won't be afraid to use.
MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Hitters
Highest Expected Run Totals
- St. Louis Cardinals (5.5, +105) vs. Colorado Rockies
- Colorado Rockies (4.5, -125) vs. St. Louis Cardinals
- Minnesota Twins (4.5, -120) vs. Miami Marlins
- New York Yankees (4.5, -110) vs. Baltimore Orioles
MLB DFS Lineups: Core MLB DFS Hitters
Matt Olson, 1B, Atlanta Braves
All eyes are on the Braves-Mets series. It's got significant implications for the NL Wild Card.
That said, the Mets will start Luis Severino. While the right-hander has been excellent overall, he's struggled against lefties over the last 30 days.
Lefties have hit a .197 ISO and wOBA of .360 with 52.9% of hard contact against Severino over the last 30 days.
He's also induced only 31.4% of ground balls against lefties and has allowed more than 29% of fly balls in the last 30 days.
Meanwhile, Matt Olson, the Braves left-handed hitter, has socked a .329 ISO and wOBA of .480 against his last 88 righties. He's also struck out fewer times than he's walked against righties in the previous month.
Look for Olson to connect on one. He's one of the best MLB DFS plays at 1B.
Manuel Margot, OF, Carlos Correa, SS, Carlos Santana, 1B, Kyle Farmer, 2B, Minnesota Twins
The Twins have four red-hot righties against lefties over the last 30 days.
Check out these stats against lefties over the last 30 days for some of the Twins bats:
- Manuel Margot: .188 ISO, .387 wOBA
- Carlos Correa: .333 ISO, .530 wOBA
- Carlos Santana: .391 ISO, .356 wOBA
- Kyle Farmer: .346 ISO, .479 wOBA
These four righties will take on Ryan Weathers of the Marlins. Weathers is a lefty who has allowed a .194 ISO and wOBA of .320 to his last 249 righties. Since returning from injury, he's also given up a .562 ISO and wOBA of .505 to his previous 16 righties.
You can trust any MLB DFS picks on the Twins for tonight's slate.
Fernando Tatis, OF Manny Machado, 3B, San Diego Padres
The Padres are also in a heated race for an NL Wild Card spot. They'll take on Landon Knack of the Dodgers, a right-handed pitcher who has struggled against righties throughout the season.
Knack has allowed a .250 ISO and wOBA of .344 to his first 121 righties faced this season. However, he's allowed a .273 ISO and wOBA of .429 to his last 25 righties faced.
Over the last 30 days, the two big Padres righties have destroyed other righties.
- Fernando Tatis: .333 ISO, .420 wOBA
- Manny Machado: .319 ISO, .409 wOBA
Look for the two big guns to power the Padres past the Dodgers tonight.

Player News
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that Zach Eflin (lat) is likely to return and start Sunday against the Angels
It was assumed that Eflin would be back this weekend, but now we have a concrete date. The 31-year-old may not be at full strength after throwing fewer than 60 pitches in his rehab start, but the Orioles feel confident enough to have the right-hander back on the bump for the series finale against the Angels.
Riley Greene is not in the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies on Thursday.
Greene will get a break and likely return to the lineup for the second game of the twin-billing. Zach McKinstry will get the start in left field while Greene rests.
Yu Darvish (elbow) is facing live hitters on Thursday.
Darvish has been throwing bullpen sessions and traveled to the team’s complex in Arizona to face live hitters on Thursday. It will be his first time facing live batters since a spring training appearance on March 13th. He will likely need a few sessions like this before the Padres can map out a rehab appearance timeline for him.
Adael Amador is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Rockies on Thursday.
Amador has now started three of the last four games at second base for the Rockies. He’s gone just 7-for-43 this season with 15 strikeouts in 16 games. He’s just 22 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to adjust to the MLB level, but he doesn’t need to be on redraft radars right now.
Jackson Holliday is playing second base and batting second for the Orioles on Thursday against the Twins.
With Cedric Mullins sitting out on Thursday, Gunnar Henderson will bat lead off, and Holliday will jump up from sixth in the order to second. Holliday is riding a hot streak right now, and the Orioles are taking advantage. This is likely just a one-game sample with no Mullins or Adley Rutschman in the lineup, but Rutschman has been struggling, so perhaps it could become a more permanent spot in the lineup for Holliday moving forward.
Endy Rodriguez (finger) had his splint removed this week.
Rodriguez suffered a lacerated right index finger on April 14th. Now that he is out of his splint, he “is playing catch and doing a slightly modified swing.” Once he can progress to taking full swings, we’ll have a better sense of the timeline for his return.
