Astros signed 1B Jon Singleton to a minor league contract.
Who says you can't go home? Singleton got into 114 games for the Astros between 2014 and 2015 at the outset of his career and has bounced around for nearly a decade at this point. He finally returned to the majors this season with the Brewers before electing free agency earlier this week. The 31-year-old provides Houston with some extra corner infield depth at Triple-A Sugar Land.
Jon Singleton has elected free agency.
He's declined an outright minor league assignment after clearing waivers and becomes a free agent. Singleton went 3-for-29 with two RBI before being let go by the Brewers on Saturday.
Brewers designated 1B Jon Singleton for assignment.
The 31-year-old was hitting .103/.188/.138 in 11 games for the Brewers. It was a great story that he made it back to the majors, but he wasn't hitting well enough to remain on the roster.
Jon Singleton is not in the Brewers' starting lineup for Friday's matchup against the Athletics.
Since joining the Brewers on June 3, Singleton has started every game against right-handed pitching, and has now sat in each game against a left-handed starter. Owen Miller will get the call at first base for the Brewers on Friday night and will bat leadoff against Sam Moll and the Athletics.
