Ryan Weathers (forearm) will make another minor league rehab start.
Weathers looked sharp earlier this week when he tossed three hitless frames in a minor league rehab start for Low-A Jupiter. The 25-year-old lefty, who is coming back from a left flexor strain, will get at least one additional rehab outing before he rejoins Miami’s rotation. He showed enough potential last year to merit consideration for a roster spot in deeper mixed leagues.
Ryan Weathers (forearm) threw three hitless innings for Single-A Jupiter on Sunday.
Weathers struck out six and walked nobody on the day. Obviously, allowing not one single baserunner in three innings is a pretty solid outing. He needed just 35 pitches (25 strikes) to get through the outing and, most importantly, held his velocity gains from spring training. He will probably move to High-A or Double-A for his next rehab start this week and could be back in Miami by the middle of May.
Ryan Weathers (forearm) faced hitters on Tuesday in a live batting practice session.
Weathers showed a ton of promise last year when he posted a strong 3.63 ERA over 16 starts for the Marlins. The 25-year-old southpaw is working his way back from a left flexor strain and should be ready to kick off a minor league rehab assignment in the coming weeks. He appears on track to make his season debut by the end of May.
Ryan Weathers, on the IL with a strained left forearm, is throwing a bullpen session on the field Tuesday.
It seems ambition, but Weathers is hoping to rejoin the Marlins rotation in the first week of May. He’s due to throw a couple of more bullpens before facing hitters and going on a rehab assignment.
