MLB DFS Picks & Playbook For Today’s Games: Saturday, July 6
Published: Jul 06, 2024
Welcome to another day of MLB DFS here at Fantasy Alarm. We get a great 8-game early slate on DraftKings kicking off at 4:05 PM EST.
Pitching today is headlined by Garrett Crochet who is in an elite spot against the struggling Miami Marlins. Over the past week, we have seen mediocre pitchers like Brayan Bello dominate them, and now they have the strikeout artist in town.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Washington Nationals
A few rain showers are expected to land eventually, but nothing too severe.
MLB DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts
For pitching today, it’s Garrett Crochet with a bullet. He is my SP1 in every lineup and he has the most upside of any pitcher on the board. Double spending on pitchers is very possible on this slate without any expensive Dodgers or any Coors Field players to worry about.
One of my favorite teams to stack today is the Reds who are playing at home against a returning Matt Manning. The Mets are one of the best teams against left-handed pitching so they are another elite stack today. After those two teams, I have a lot of interest in the Orioles and Nationals who are both in great spots.

Top Options for Strikeouts
- Garrett Crochet (7.5 Ks -130) vs Miami Marlins
- MacKenzie Gore (5.5 Ks -145) vs St. Louis Cardinals
- Taj Bradley (5.5 Ks -135) vs Texas Rangers

Best Odds for a Win
- Garrett Crochet vs Miami Marlins

Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Garrett Crochet, Chicago White Sox
The best pitcher on this slate is Garrett Crochet by a landslide. He has the best odds to record a win and the highest implied strikeout total at 7.5. He has recorded 10 or more strikeouts in three of his last five starts and despite playing for the White Sox, he has great odds to record the win against a struggling Marlins team. Miami ranks dead last in almost every offensive category against left-handed pitching and has a 21.7% strikeout rate. Crochet is striking out 35.3% of batters and has a massive upside today.
Taj Bradley, Tampa Bay Rays
Taj Bradley has a ton of upside in this matchup, coming off an 11-strikeout performance against the Nationals. It’s the second time he’s recorded double-digit strikeouts in his last four games and he’s allowed two or fewer runs in five straight. Texas will continue to be a tough matchup with the talent they have, but since June 1st they rank near the bottom of the league in most offensive categories and sit dead last in ISO at .108. Taj is striking out 31.6% of batters and has great upside for his price.
Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds
Hunter Greene is another pitcher in an interesting matchup here, hosting the Detroit Tigers at home. Since June 1st, Detroit ranks near the bottom in most offensive categories and is dead last with a .209 team batting average. They hold the seventh-highest strikeout rate at 24.6% and Greene is striking out 26.5% of batters. The risk here is that the game is being played in Cincinnati and both Riley Greene and Colt Keith have been hitting for a ton of power lately, with five combined home runs over the last three games.
Andrew Heaney, Texas Rangers
Andrew Heaney is in an interesting spot against the Rays, even with Taj Bradley on the opposing mound. The Rays have been much better against lefties on the season, but overall have not been a great offense. Heaney is coming off his best start of the year where he dominated the Orioles with 10 strikeouts on two runs allowed. Taj should have a higher ceiling on the other side of this matchup, but for the price tag, Heaney looks like a solid option.

Note: Will Be Updated as Official Starting Lineups Are Released
Mark Vientos, 3B, New York Mets
With lefty Bailey Falter on the mound, Mark Vientos is one of my favorite plays on the slate. On the season, he has a .467 wOBA, 1.105 OPS, and .339 ISO against lefties. The Mets have been one of the best teams against lefties on the season and Vientos is a big part of that. Over his last 10 games, he has recorded five home runs and 12 RBIs while batting .316. His price tag is affordable and he should be a staple in any Mets stack today.
Colt Keith, 2B, Detroit Tigers
Colt Keith is heating up, with three home runs in his last two games. He now has three straight multi-hit games and is one of the cheapest second basemen on the slate. Hunter Greene is not the easiest matchup for him, but this game is in Cincinnati so the ballpark is in his favor. Greene has allowed four home runs over his last five starts and has had issues with walks so there is a lot to like with Keith given his price tag.
Elly De La Cruz, SS, Cincinnati Reds
Shortstop is a loaded position so you really can’t go wrong spending up, especially on Elly at home. He has hits in three of his last five games and a stolen base in three straight games. His power and speed give him one of the highest ceilings of any player on any given slate, and with Matt Manning making his first start since being sent down, I like his odds today. Manning gave up a ton of runs and walks earlier in the season, and giving Elly a free base means he’s going to run.
Luis Robert Jr, OF, Chicago White Sox
Luis Robert is on fire right now, with three multi-hit games over his last four. Over his last 10 games, he is hitting .317 with two doubles, three home runs, seven RBI, and three steals. He holds a towering .302 ISO against righties on the year and over his career, Yonny Chirinos has been worse against righties. I like Robert as more of a one-off play, but a mini stack of White Sox with someone like Eloy Jimenez can pay off as well.
