The top MLB Best Bets and Prop Bets for today are all lined up for you here on Fantasy Alarm.

After an exciting day of holiday baseball, we’re back with another full 15-game MLB slate here on Friday with some spectacular betting opportunities. Of course, here at the tail-end of the first half, the Vegas lines and odds have certainly tightened up on some of our usual targets. We always love finding value bets on a Patrick Corbin day, even if he’s facing a soft St. Louis Cardinals lineup. And the starting pitching lineup today features some amazing arms like Tyler Glasnow, Cole Ragans and rookie Paul Skenes. Not to mention, the AL East rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox is always exciting, especially if you like post-Fourth of July fireworks.

MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 7/5

With a rash of daytime baseball, we lightened up our betting yesterday, but the Thursday MLB predictions still landed in our favor. Jon Impemba may have won our Max Scherzer quality start bet, but we still nailed the under on the first half of that game. The Tampa Bay Rays were kind to us, though we just missed our Zach Eflin walk-prop as he dished one out in the bottom of the fifth, and the night capped off well with Logan Webb delivering on a pair of props. We turned a small profit and will try to carry that momentum into Friday’s action.

Cardinals vs. Nationals Prediction: Friday, July 5

While it’s always nice to wish someone a Happy Patrick Corbin Day, today might not have the same meaning. Don’t get me wrong – I can’t stand the guy from a baseball standpoint. He’s washed up and never really recovered from Tommy John surgery all those years ago. He’s allowed seven earned runs (two home runs) over his last two starts and owns a 5.49 ERA with a 1.53 WHIP. But these Cardinals against lefthanded pitching? Yuck! Did you see them against Martin Perez yesterday? Not only are the Cardinals sitting with a .295 wOBA and 23.4-percent strikeout rate over the past week, they also have the second-lowest team wOBA (.272) against southpaws this season. I don’t think Corbin blanks them, but I also don’t think they chase him early.

On the other side, it’s Sonny Gray against a Nationals team that has been offensively silent over the past seven games. Even with the excitement that James Wood provides, the Nationals have a .285 wOBA with a miserable .103 ISO during this recent run. They don’t strike out much and the under is juiced up on Gray’s strikeout props, but I know he’ll do his part to keep the early scoring to a minimum.

Royals vs. Rockies Prediction: Friday, July 5

If you caught the MLB DFS preview show with me and James Grande, you know we’re not afraid of Coors Field with regard to investing in Cole Ragans. His personal props have a little too much juice on them, but I have no doubt in my mind that he can and will contain this Rockies lineup. It’s all about the swing-and-miss stuff Ragans has. We’re talking about a swinging-strike rate that stays between 14 and 15-percent. The Rockies have a .314 wOBA against southpaws this season, but that comes with a 24.6-percent K-rate. Ragans should dominate.

We love the Royals both early and throughout this contest. Not only is lefty Kyle Freeland one of the most hittable pitchers out there (7.94 ERA, 1.80 WHIP), but the Royals have been white-hot lately. Their numbers against southpaws sit in the middle of the pack, but over the past week, the Royals have the third-highest wOBA (.349) which comes with a .215 ISO. That’s going to play well here in Coors Field, so we’re going to dip and double-dip here.

Diamondbacks vs. Padres Prediction: Friday, July 5

Speaking of hittable pitchers, we get Slade Cecconi who hasn’t pitched past the fourth inning in either of his last two starts squaring off against Randy Vasquez and his 1.66 WHIP. Both starters have been struggling while both offenses have been surging. Even without Fernando Tatis in the lineup, the Padres should have no issue with Cecconi and the Diamondbacks have been one of the strongest hitting teams against righthanded pitching over the past month. Quick and dirty with this one, as I think we see some post-Fourth of July fireworks here.
