MLB DFS Playbook: June 1

Yelich actually has reverse splits so far, slashing .267/.421/.400 against lefties, compared to .250/.391/.327 against righties. He’s a bit more expensive than I would like him to be, but I do like him in a Brewers stack.

Candelario is having a decent season, hitting .286 with four home runs and 13 doubles. All four of his home runs have been off a righty and he is slashing a robust .324/.378/.490 on the road this season (all of his home runs have been on the road), compared to .245/.336/.330 at home.

Wisdom is not going to be a 29-year old breakout player, but he is hot right now, going 7-13 (.538) with three home runs and a stolen base over his last five games. Righties have accounted for all three home runs that Weathers has given up this season.

Holt could draw a start today with the Rangers facing a righty and he has been good against righties this season, slashing .269/.406/.385 against them, compared to .083/.083/.083 against lefties (12 PA). He doesn’t overly excite me, but at a near minimum price at Coors Field, he’s something worth considering.

Tatis is the best offensive player on the planet. He is hitting .299 while leading the MLB in home runs with 16 and leading the NL in steals with 12, despite an IL stint! He is hitting .440 (22-50) with eight home runs, seven steals, and 25 RBI over the last 14 games. Insane.

Turner is having a good season in his own right, hitting .303 with 10 dingers and 12 steals. He is slashing .405/.458/.690 against lefties this season and in his career against Fried he is 6-16 (.375) with a home run against him.

Lindor (FANDUEL ONLY) is 5-13 (.385) over his last three games with a home run and three runs scored. He is too expensive on DK but worth a shot on FD with the hopes that he is finding a groove. He is 2-5 with a pair of home runs against Smith in his career too.

I always mentioned how badly Adames struggled at his home field while with the Rays and since being trade to the Brew Crew he is hitting .324 with two home runs and nine RBI across 10 games. He has been batting second in the lineup when they face a lefty. Boyd has a 4.50 ERA across four road starts, compared to a 2.87 ERA across six home starts.

Meadows launched his 12th home run of the season yesterday. He is hot at the dish right now, hitting .339 (20-59) with five home runs and 20 RBI over his last 15 games. He is 4-8 with THREE dingers against German in his career.

Fuentes struggled on the Rockies road trip, but you know where he doesn’t struggle? At home. He is slashing .321/.341/.577 at Coors Field this season with all four of his home runs and 24 of his 25 RBI across 24 games, compared to a .155/.211/.197 on the road.

O’Neill is super hot right now, hitting .326 (14-43) with SEVEN home runs and 14 RBI over his last 11 games. He has been incredible on the road this season, slashing .300/.325/.713 across 20 games, compared to .214/.261/.452 across 15 games at home.

Garcia is hitting .286 with six steals, 41 RBI, and an MLB-leading 16 home runs. Now he takes a trip to Coors Field. He is slashing .299/.346/.649 on the road this season (compared to .269/.293/.513 at home) and he is slashing .301/.357/.612 against righties (compared to .264/.270/.556 against lefties).

Garcia already has 10 home runs this season as he looks like he will set a new career in long balls this season. He is slashing .256/.396/.462 against lefties, compared to .240/.283/.450 against righties and he has had Boyd’s number, going 10-26 (.385) with two home runs and nine RBI against him in his career.

Tucker should not be this cheap. He is hitting .309 (29-94) with six home runs, three steals, 20 RBI, and 23 runs scored over his last 26 games. He is slashing .255/.339/.491 against righties, compared to .220/.272/.439 against southpaws and he is slashing .286/.352/.563 at home, compared to .175/.253/.338 on the road.

Kelenic swiped his third bag yesterday. He is still ice cold at the plate, but he’s still finding ways to produce somewhat in fantasy despite that. Lefties have accounted for all five home runs that Bassitt has given up this season.

Benintendi is having a solid season, hitting .288 with four home runs and six steals. He really lacks in the counting stats department though, despite hitting third in the Royals lineup. However, the Royals should be able to put some runs on the board today and Benny is slashing .317/.384/.439 against righties with all of his home runs.

McKinstry is 0-9 since coming off the IL, but at the minimum price I have no issue taking a chance on him in this matchup with Gant. Gant may have a 1.81 ERA but his 4.06 FIP and 1.57 WHIP both tell us a completely different story.

Pina hasn’t hit for a good average at all this season, but it’s been slightly better against lefties and his power has been far better against them with three of his four dingers coming off a southpaw, despite seven less at-bats against them, giving him a .591 SLG against them.

Pineda has pitched extremely well with a 2.62 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts across 44.2 innings of work. Today he has a good matchup with Baltimore as the Orioles are 27th in the league in runs per game, averaging just 3.74 per contest. It’s even worse lately, as they are averaging just 2.25 runs per game over their last eight games and 1.83 runs per game over their last six. The Orioles are hitting just .210 against righties this season, a big difference from their .271 mark against southpaws. Pineda faced the Orioles his last time out and fired six innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts.

Gray is currently rocking a 3.40 ERA with 52 punch-outs across 42.1 innings of work. He should be able to keep that momentum going today against a cold Phillies offense, as they haven’t scored more than three runs in any of their last six games, averaging just 2.17 runs per game in that span. They have the third highest strikeout rate in the league this season at 27.2-percent. His ceiling is higher than Pineda’s and at a cheaper price, so he makes for a better GPP play of the two, but he isn’t as safe.

Wood has been incredibly good this season with a 5-2 record, a 2.44 ERA, and 50 strikeouts across 48 innings of work. The Angels aren’t the easiest of matchups, but they are currently without Trout and Rendon is cold; plus Ohtani (probably won’t play with no DH) and Walsh are weaker against lefties than they are righties. Wood has been super lights-out at home this season with a 2.08 ERA and 10.4 K/9 with three wins across four starts. He is averaging the second most points on DK of any pitcher on the slate today, but is the eighth priced pitcher.

Ray has pitched well this season with a 3.81 ERA and 60 strikeouts across 52.0 innings of work. He has a good matchup on tap today too, as the Marlins are also ice cold on offense right now, as they are averaging just 1.80 runs per game over their past five games. They have the fifth highest strikeout rate in the league this season at 26.7-percent. If he can limit the long ball (nobody has given up more home runs than the 14 Ray has given up) he should be in line for a great outing!

Fried’s overall stats still don’t look great, but he has been pitching great lately with a 1.50 ERA across his last four starts with 20 strikeouts across 24.0 innings of work. Today he faces Washington and speaking of cold offenses, we have the Nationals as they are averaging just 1.20 runs per game over their past five games. He faced that Nationals a couple of starts ago and was strong, firing five innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts while picking up the win.

Singer is coming off a rough outing, but he had back-to-back 18+ DK point outings prior to that. His 3.66 FIP this season is far better than his 4.91 ERA and his 49 strikeouts across 47.2 innings of work is rock solid. He has a great matchup today too; the Pirates are dead last in runs per game, averaging just 3.36 on the season and that number drops to 3.00 when they are on the road (second to last in that category). He has plenty of upside at a very cheap price.

Perez has been great this season with a .276 average and 10 home runs with 33 RBI. He has reverse splits this season with a .289/.314/.503 slash against righties, compared to .241/.281/.407 against lefties. He has also been great at home with a .298/.330/.500 slash, compared to .253/.279/.455 on the road.

Posey is hitting .323 with 10 home runs and 25 runs scored this season. He has absolutely destroyed left-handed pitching this season, slashing a mind-blowing .457/.537/.857 against them across 41 plate appearances. Heaney has a 5.24 ERA and righties have accounted for eight of the nine dingers he has given up.

Glasnow has been fantastic this season with a 2.57 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 98 strikeouts across 70.0 innings of work. The Yankees are thought of as a scarier offense than they actually are, considering they’re 26th in the league in runs per game, averaging just 3.74. And they have really struggled recently, scoring more than two runs just once in their last seven contests, averaging just 1.86 runs per game over that span. They also have the third highest strikeout rate in the league over the past 14 days with a 27.8-percent mark. Glasnow faced the Yankees earlier this season and fired five innings of one-run ball with seven punch-outs and that was when the Yankees were hot offensively.

Bryant is having a great year, hitting .324 with 12 long balls, 36 RBI, and 36 runs scored. He has demolished left-handed pitching this season, slashing an insane .432/.510/.955 against them.

Zimmerman has been good in limited playing time this season, hitting .314 with five home runs and 15 RBI across 86 at-bats. He will be in the lineup today though for his greatness against lefties as he is slashing .378/.378/.568 against them this season.

Lowe has really cooled off from a hot start, but a trip to Coors could be exactly what a player needs to light up the box score. He’s been far better on the road in general this season and we know Marquez’s struggles at home.

McMahon is hitting .259 with 13 home runs, three steals, and 31 RBI. He has hit 10 of those home runs against righties and he is slashing .287/.327/.584 at home this season, compared to .229/.299/.438 on the road.

Rodgers is only hitting .192 across eight games since returning off IL, but six of those games have been on the road. In his two games at Coors he is 2-7 (.286) with two RBI. A small sample, but all players hit better at Coors Field and that will be the case for Rodgers too.

Flores is scorching hot at the dish right now, hitting .600 (9-15) with a home run and three RBI over his last starts. He has done more damage against lefties in his career, slashing .275/.316/.496 against them, compared to .264/.309/.409 against righties.

Harrison has been fantastic against lefties this year, slashing .333/.379/.556 against them across 29 plate appearances. Righties have done all the damage across Fried this season, slashing .298/.367/.491 against him, compared to the .182/.296/.227 line that lefties have produced.
