Welcome to Tuesday's 8-game NHL Slate. Connor McDavid and the Oilers are looking for win number one on the season as other players play familiar faces with Brent Burns taking on the Sharks and Pierre-Luc Dubois meeting the Jets. There’s a ton of good value on this slate, but we need to dig deep to know which players are worth it, and which ones are frauds. You can build daily fantasy hockey lineups on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo Fantasy for Tuesday, October 17th, but before you build those NHL daily fantasy lineups, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS projections, the NHL Value Finder, and the NHL DFS lineup generator. Let's now take a closer look at the daily fantasy hockey top plays for tonight's NHL DFS Showdown slate.

Recommended DFS Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Philipp Grubauer vs Colorado Avalanche

Jonas Johansson vs Buffalo Sabres

Mackenzie Blackwood vs Carolina Hurricanes

Juuse Saros vs Edmonton Oilers

Best Odds for a Win

Frederik Andersen vs San Jose Sharks

Ilya Sorokin vs Arizona Coyotes

Stuart Skinner vs Nashville Predators

Marc-Andre Fleury vs Montreal Canadiens

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Frederick Andersen, Carolina Hurricanes

He is the top priced option on the slate for a reason as the Hurricanes normally play stellar defense in front of their net and the Sharks are going to be a very bad team this year. Feels like more of a cash game play as the upside is capped given that the Sharks probably don't post more than 25 shots on net tonight but a win seems likely for Andersen and the Canes tonight.

Marc-Andre Fleury, Minnesota Wild

The Wild really got tossed around in their last game against the Maple Leafs but luckily for them the Habs are not of that caliber and they should get back on track tonight. The Canadiens are also shooting the puck 30 times per game so far this season so the floor should be there if Flower does his job. Don't always love goaltenders on the road but I am more than fine in this spot.

Ilya Sorokin, New York Islanders

The Islanders are a bit of a meh kind of team this season but they're still achored by one of the best goalies in the league and will be at home tonight. On home ice last season Sorokin was 20-10-0 with a 1.91 GAA and .936%, some things are just better in front of the fans and I will be playing him tonight.

Devon Levi, Buffalo Sabres

I smell a potential upset in this game tonight as the Sabres are still trying to find their first win of the season. They have been close and at home tonight against an aging Lightning team I think they've got a shot. Lightning have fallen off a bit in volume too with just 27.67 shots per game through 3 contests so less of a chance for the Sabres goaltender to make a mistake.

Recommended DFS Skaters

Highest Implied Goal Totals

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Devon Levi (3.89)

Minnesota Wild vs Sam Montembeault (3.7)

Edmonton Oilers vs Juuse Saros (3.7)

Colorado Avalanche vs Philipp Grubauer (3.7)

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Connor McDavid, C, Edmonton Oilers

Slow start to the season by McDavid's standards and the Oilers have yet to win a game, I feel most of that changes tonight for them. Predators have a way of slowing the game down but I can't fade McDavid tonight.

Tage Thompson, C, Buffalo Sabres

I am pretty high on the Sabres today as the Lightning look slower and the goaltending situation isn't great so why not fire up Buffalo's best player in a home matchup. Tampa Bay is allowing the 4th most DFS points to centers this season as well.

Sebastian Aho, C, Carolina Hurricanes

If you are playing the Sharks this season you'll probably end up in the playbook! Aho has had one huge game and two duds so far this season but with the Sharks set to allow 4+ goals likely I need a piece of the action in Carolina tonight.

Kirill Kaprizov, W, Minnesota Wild

Its finally time this season for wheels up on the Wild offense and Kappy is the center piece to everything they do. He doesn't have a goal yet this season with just a pair of assists but the Canadiens allow the most DFS points per game to left wingers so far this year and he is one of the best.

Kevin Fiala, W, Los Angeles Kings

We have a Wild winger and a former Wild winger in the playbook now today as the Kings get the Jets tonight. The Jets are a great matchup regardless of their goaltender because their depth is just fully gone from years past. Fiala has 32.8 DFS points through 2 games so far, I think he can at least maintain that average tonight.

Brandon Hagel, W, Tampa Bay Lightning

I know I have kind of crapped all over the Lightning today but their offense is still really damn good and Hagel has been awesome thus far. He has 2 goals already this season and is averaging 13.7 points per game on DraftKings while the Sabres are allowing the 3rd most DFS points to left wingers this season, seems like an easy plug in.

Brent Burns, D, Carolina Hurricanes

If you are going to spend up on the blue line look no further than Burns who is in a great matchup and a revenge game! Sharks are allowing the 4th most DFS points to the position and are just very bad in general right now.

Josh Morrissey, D, Winnipeg Jets

He is one of the do it all guys for the Jets this season and the point totals reflect that with 3 assists through 2 games and a big 21.8 DFS performance against the Florida Panthers. He is on the ice like 24 minutes a game too in a game that should be back and forth.
