Levi had an incredible sophomore campaign, posting a 20-13-1 record, 2.05 GAA, and .952 save percentage in 32 NCAA games. He also set a school record with 10 shutouts. His efforts made him a finalist for the Mike Richter Award, which is award to the NCAA's top goaltender. The winner of the award will be announced on Friday. The Sabres acquired his negotiating rights from Florida as part of the Sam Reinhart trade and will continue to control those NHL rights for another two years, so he's still expected to sign with Buffalo once he decides to turn pro.

The Montreal-native was drafted in the seventh round of the 2020 Draft by Florida who dealt him in the off-season with a 2022 first-round pick to Buffalo for Sam Reinhart. It looks like the Sabres have a real good one as Levi is 16-7-1 with a 1.55 GAA and a .948 save percentage in NCAA play. Levi is on the Canadian Olympic team in Beijing where he could well be the starter for Team Canada. Look for Levi, who leads college hockey with nine shutouts, to solve the Sabres goaltending woes in the next few seasons.

The Buffalo Sabres have acquired Devon Levi and a 2022 first-round pick from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Sam Reinhart.

Levi was a standout in the 2021 World Juniors, posting a 0.75 GAA and .964 save percentage in seven games with Team Canada to help them win the gold medal. As a result of his efforts, he was declared the tournament's best goaltender by the IIHF and was named to the media's tournament All-Star team. Not bad for a goaltender that the Panthers took with the 212nd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Keep in mind though that while his stock has certainly risen as a result of his stellar World Juniors play, he likely still needs time to develop before he'll potentially play in the NHL.
