Kirill Kaprizov is back in the United States, according to multiple NHL sources, and he is scheduled to fly to Minnesota on Tuesday.

Kaprizov's return to Minnesota will be five weeks ahead of what he originally intended following reports that he allegedly purchased a fake military ID card in 2017. Those allegations that appear to have largely been refuted, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic, but his military exemption ended on June 30. Russo notes that "itâ??s unclear if Kaprizov was able to exit Russia because the Wild got him his U.S. work visa or if his representatives were able to get him another military deferment in Russia." Kaprizov was denied entry to the United States last month.

Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold is concerned with his star forward Kirill Kaprizov possibly being detained in Russia.

Kaprizov was turned away from returning to the United States because of his visa status and the worry is that the Russians want him to fulfill his military requirements after his exemption expired on June 30. “It’s pretty hard not to be little nervous about it, right? Leipold said. “I mean, I think every team that has Russian players that are back in Russia right now, they can all say ‘No, I’m not nervous right now, I’m not nervous.' Until he gets back into the United States, I’m going to be a little nervous.” Stay tuned as this saga is far from over.

Kaprizov has reportedly been mixed up in a political situation regarding his military requirements, but there hasn't been much in the way of information or confirmations about his status. According to Michael Russo of The Athletic, it's "something that is privately sending shivers down the spines of everybody in the Wild organization even if they’re publicly saying otherwise."

Reports have surfaced out of Russia that Kirill Kaprizov is wanted for allegedly buying a falsified military ID card in 2017, but the situation isn't worrying the Minnesota Wild yet.

“We’re trying to find out as much as we can, but we’re not worried too much about it," said Wild GM Bill Guerin. “I’ve talked to (Kaprizov’s agent) Paul (Theofanous). We’re not going to push the panic button or anything like that. We’re just trying to gather information right now and find out if this is even credible." Guerin told The Athletic that Kaprizov is still in Russia, which is contrary to reports that the 25-year-old forward had fled to the United States, and added that he is doing fine. He could be required to fulfill his military obligations after his exemption reportedly expired June 30, according to one source familiar with the situation. The Wild reportedly requested that Kaprizov stay in North America this offseason.
