If you’re a fan of way-too-early predictions like the mock drafts that come out a single day after the current one, then you’ll enjoy seeing Week 7’s clash between the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers being labeled as a Super Bowl preview. Whether that sounds ridiculous to you or not, be sure to check out our Texans vs. Packers predictions below!

Texans vs. Packers Predictions For NFL Week 7, Sunday 10/20

Of the entire Week 7 slate, we’re perhaps most excited about locking in Texans vs. Packers predictions, which means that we have multiple Texans vs. Packers picks for you. We’ll have the full breakdown for our best bet down the line, but speaking of lines, it’s the matchup where we see the biggest discrepancy in terms of what we’re expecting.

Green Bay favored at home was always the expectation, but we have them projected as favorites of around five points rather than 2.5 - a very key number to grab. Similarly, our projected total is multiple points below the listed one, which is also an approach we like.

We won’t bury the lead forever for the best bet, but first, let’s discuss more about each team individually.

Houston Texans: No More Nico

After greatly exceeding expectations last season and not only avoiding one of the NFL’s worst records as anticipated, but even making the playoffs, Houston had one of the busiest offseasons. They added significant weapons, primarily on offense

That included RB Joe Mixon and WR Stefon Diggs, and those two have recently had the pressure put on them in a big way. That’s due to WR Nico Collins going on injured reserve, who has been arguably the best receiver in the NFL this season. Mixon and Diggs easily answered the call against a then 1-4 New England Patriots team last week, but can they do so against the Packers?

Green Bay Packers: NFC North Is A Wagon

Last season, all four teams in the AFC North finished with a winning record. Well, now it’s the NFC’s turn with all four teams in the NFC North being 4-2 or better. In other words, there is absolutely no wiggle room for the Pack.

In fact, Green Bay is technically in last place in the division! Of course, that can change rapidly, especially with a win over the Texans, who are among the favorites in the AFC. We also have the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings going against one another this Sunday, which means a strong opportunity to gain ground for the Pack.

Texans vs. Packers Predictions: Green Bay -2.5 (-120 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Of the two ways that we shared in terms of approaching Texans vs. Packers picks, we prefer the value that we’re getting on the point spread market. So, feel free to add in the under, but with Green Bay favored by less than three points, that’s our preferred target.

As NFL fans know, a field goal is a massively key number when it comes to point spreads, which this is listed at on other platforms. Regardless, we trust Green Bay to show the true colors of the Texans. Before we go any further, let’s not get it twisted - Houston is still absolutely a contender.

However, they have also had the luxury of favorable opponents thus far. Dating all the way back to Week 1, they needed a comeback win over the Indianapolis Colts, and still allowed far too many points in their 29-27 win. They were also far from inspiring against the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football in a 19-13 win.

When they finally faced a true contender in the Minnesota Vikings (also an NFC North team on the road), they were smacked 34-7. Then, they barely snuck by a Jacksonville Jaguars team 24-20, who may be the worst team in the NFL.

That’s not to say that the Packers have been perfect by any means, but with the WR trio back healthy and a great balance thanks to RB Josh Jacobs, they have the pieces to capitalize. Therefore, the best bet from our Texans vs. Packers predictions is Green Bay -2.5 (-120 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
