Jets signed C Josh Myers, formerly of the Packers, to a one-year, $3.5-million contract.
Myers was a four-year starter with the Packers and, as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler notes, was Justin Fields’ teammate at Ohio State. The signing appears to be a depth-move at first glance though. Current Jets C Joe Tippmann is just two years into his NFL career and earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors in 2023. Jets RG Alijah Vera-Tucker and LG John Simpson are both under contract through the 2025 season as well.
Packers C Josh Myers told reporters that thinks he avoided tearing his ACL in Wild Card Weekend against the Eagles.
Myers also mentions that he believes he avoided suffering an ankle injury as well although there is a concern for a hairline fracture in his lower leg. The leg bone was not specified. Overall, this is a positive result for the impending free agent. Myers’ run blocking leaves some to be desired but Myers earned a 64.7 PFF pass-blocking grade or better in 3-of-4 NFL seasons, which should yield a starter-level contract if he hits the open market.
Josh Myers is active for Week 13 against the Dolphins.
Myers was questionable for the contest with his left wrist injury, but he’ll able to go for the primetime contest. The Packers inactives for Thursday’s tilt are CB Jaire Alexander, WR Romeo Doubs, LB Edgerrin Cooper and OL Jacob Monk.
Packers activated C Josh Myers (knee) from injured reserve.
Myers has been out with a knee injury since Week 6. Lucas Patrick has started since the rookie went down, and it is unclear who will get the starting nod now that Myers is back healthy. Either way, this is a good development for an offensive line that should also get back LT David Bakhtiari before the playoffs.
