The NFL Week 8 slate, specifically the early afternoon one, supplied fans with several one-score finishes, many of which came down to the final seconds. Involved in those games were both the Houston Texans and New York Jets, and now, they kick off against one another to begin Week 9 on Thursday Night Football.

So, we’ve shared our best Texans vs. Jets predictions to get you set for it, and after we work through the best bet from our Texans vs. Jets picks and the latest Texans vs. Jets odds, we also have a $1,500 BetMGM Sportsbook sign up bonus for you!

Texans vs. Jets Predictions For Thursday Night Football, NFL Week 9

While the Texans and Jets were both among those aforementioned thrilling matchups this past Sunday, they were on opposite ends of them. They were both divisional rivalries, but Houston grabbed the three-point victory while New York fell by the same margin.

That also means that we see the Texans in command of the AFC South at 6-2, while the Jets have now dropped five straight and find themselves at the bottom of the AFC East at 2-6. Despite that discrepancy, the Texans vs. Jets odds suggest that we’re in for an extremely close matchup.

In fact, if you were to check the lines prior to Week 8’s results, they were even more favorable for New York. Regardless, we now know what we’re working with so that we can provide you with a best bet from our Texans vs. Jets picks, so let’s discuss each team.

Houston Texans: 6-2 But Room For Improvement

As mentioned, the Texans were the ones on the right end of a nail-biting victory, but it was still far from ideal. We certainly wouldn’t call the season that QB C.J. Stroud is having a sophomore slump given the high bar he set in his rookie season, but it still not as strong as anticipated.

While it doesn’t help that WR Nico Collins has been out with injury and now WR Stefon Diggs looks to be in the same boat, we’re most concerned with their offensive line play. So, the question then becomes whether or not New York can take advantage of that. Given what we can imagine the vibes are in the Jets locker room, it’s difficult to imagine that they can.

New York Jets: All But Over

We all know the storyline by now - even since acquiring QB Aaron Rodgers before LAST season, Super Bowl expectations were in place. While it has never truly looked like that, there always seemed to be a way that Rodgers and company could spin things.

Whether it was signing guys, trading for a player, getting hold outs to end or even making coaching changes, there was always something that kept fans holding onto hope. Now that they’ve just hit a five-game losing streak and seemingly no changes in sight this week (yet), it’s difficult to see how they’re going to keep spirits high.

Texans vs. Jets Predictions: Houston +2 (-110 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

We foreshadowed the best bet from our Texans vs. Jets predictions quite a bit, but we simply can’t ignore the value with the Houston side. Prior to Sunday’s game, we were surprised that the look-ahead line was New York -1, and we’re just as surprised to see it move even more in their favor.

Thanks to the Texans vs. Jets odds at BetMGM, we’re getting the best bang for our buck, as some platforms even had the favorite flip-flopped as recently as Monday night. Regardless, rather than paying nearly the same price on the money line, we’ll happily give ourselves the push condition with Houston being the underdog.

As we’ve already shared, we simply don’t see any reason for anyone in the Jets organization to be holding onto hope. Even after their previous four straight losses, they had new reasons to give their best, whether it was a new head coach, new play caller, signing superstar WR Davante Adams and most recently, DE Hasson Reddick ending his holdout.

However, absolutely none of that mattered. Losing to a 1-6 New England Patriots team that had just been doubled up on in London a week prior to a 1-5 Jacksonville Jaguars team is as bad as it gets. Even if they win out, the playoffs are still a stretch, and with the Buffalo Bills at 6-2, the AFC East crown is a pipe dream.

While we admit the fact that Houston is far from perfect, at the end of the day, they’re 6-2 and find ways to win. If the Jets can’t slow down the Pats offense, we won’t be concerned about the Texans offensive line woes, for this matchup at least.

It may not be the best football we see all season, but we love taking Houston +2 (-110 at BetMGM Sportsbook) as the best bet from our Texans vs. Jets predictions.
