NFL Free Agency 2025: New York Giants Depth Chart + Offseason Moves

No more Daniel Jones. No more Saquon Barkley. This is a completely new era that the New York Giants are entering. And, as sad as that may be, it does bring hope for the future. They’ve got some bright spots on offense like Malik Nabers and Tyrone Tracy But finding a quarterback is always task number one in the NFL.
If there is a way to acquire a QB, there is a Giants rumor about it. Free agency, the draft, trades - you name it. Our job today is to go through the Giants depth chart, contracts, cap space, free agents, etc. to figure out what they might do when the legal tampering period opens on March 10th.
We’ll even give out thoughts for your dynasty fantasy football leagues or early best ball drafts for those that dabble.

Giants Quarterback Depth Chart
Drew Lock: I think it was worth giving Drew Lock a look just to see. With Baker Mayfield, Geno Smith, and Sam Darnold making things happen, you never know. But the Giants gave him a couple shots, including against the Eagles backups where he lost, so now they probably know. He’s an unrestricted free agent and he’ll likely try his hand again with another team.
Tommy DeVito: Tommy Cutlets was certainly a fun story. And we’ll never forget the memes. But he got a much longer look than undrafted free agents almost ever get. Maybe he can catch on with another team as a backup or hang around New York on the practice squad but he’s a long shot to ever be a starting NFL quarterback.
Tim Boyle: Boyle is also an unrestricted free agent. And he’s much more of a “player/coach” at this stage than someone you even want as your QB2. He could hang around in that capacity.
- Reserves/Futures: N/A
GIANTS QB FREE AGENCY TAKE: The Giants have zero quarterbacks under contract right now - not even a reserves/futures contract. So, the discussion of what to do here is one of the hottest ones in football.
If they draft a QB, they’ll still want a veteran in there to help teach him like an Andy Dalton or a Joe Flacco. But we don’t need to list those guys' names as we know who they are. They could also trade for a QB - rumors have connected them to guys like Kirk Cousins or Will Levis. But here are the interesting names for free agency in terms of guys they could sign to start right away.
- POSSIBLE FREE AGENT OPTIONS: Sam Darnold, Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, Mac Jones, Jameis Winston
Giants Running Back Depth Chart
Tyrone Tracy: Let me be up front about this - I like Tyrone Tracy Is he the next Alvin Kamara? Probably not. But there are some similarities I saw in Tracy including his hands, his explosiveness, and his contact balance. He’s a converted WR after all so we shouldn’t be surprised by the hands.
Even if the Giants want to supplement him with a bruiser, I’m not super worried. I’m willing to bet on the talent here. The Alex Korff’s dynasty trade value charts, which attempt to capture industry sentiment, suggest the price is an early second, late first depending on format. I’m willing to give a first for him as long as it’s not a top 3 pick or so. If you can get him for less, then even better.
Devin Singletary: Devin Singletary is what we like to call a “professional football player”. Is he the best? No. But he shows up, he learns the playbook, he works hard. He’s reliable. That will keep you employed in this league. He’s familiar with Brian Daboll and there’s virtually no benefit in releasing him so I expect him back next year to mix in with Tracy.
Eric Gray: Eric Gray being surpassed by Tracy almost immediately does not bode well for his future on offense. What does bode well for his spot on this roster is that he returned over 20 kicks in 2024. That’s his path to hanging around and he’s got two years left on a cheap rookie deal, so I expect him to be back as the new kickoff format sees most teams putting two guys back.
Dante Miller: The man they call “Lil Turbo” bounced around the practice squad a bit but was eventually elevated to the active roster. That makes him ineligible for a reserves/futures contract that’s probably where he would be signed now if he were eligible. He’ll probably be in camp to compete for a practice squad spot again.
- Reserves/Futures: N/A
GIANTS RB FREE AGENCY TAKE: Running back should not be a priority for this team in free agency or the draft. Too many holes to fill. If they do add someone, expect it to be cheap or a deep draft pick. And expect them to primarily play special teams.
- POSSIBLE FREE AGENT OPTIONS: N/A
Giants Wide Receiver Depth Chart
Malik Nabers: It’s really looking like they hit on a super star with Malik Nabers. Now they need to decide how to build this room around him. Do they want him playing split end or do they want to put a bigger body on the other side to give him a free release? Darius Slayton has tried to be that at times with limited success. Either way, this is the kind of guy you hang onto in dynasty and don’t let go.
Darius Slayton: As we mentioned above, Slayton operated as the WR2 for the Giants as Wan'Dale Robinson was more of a part time slot guy. Slayton is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and, if they are going to upgrade the starters, this is the place to look. Slayton can be held in deeper dynasty leagues just to see where he lands but it’s hard to see him breaking out at this stage.
Wan'Dale Robinson: The hope for guys like this is that they can graduate from the “pure slot guy” to a full-time player. Jaxon Smith-Njigba for instance played slot pretty exclusively as a rookie but this year played slot in 3 WR sets but moved to flanker in 2 WR sets. That saw Tyler Lockett take a backseat.
This offseason is key for Robinson in that regard. If they bring in anyone who will be a full-time player on the outside, that caps his ceiling for as long as he’s a Giant. If it’s a big name, the value of Robinson will plummet pretty quickly. If you can get something decent for him the safe play is to move him, but you might as well hold if the only offer is a 3rd round pick or worse. The trade charts suggest that’s where his perceived value is.
Jalin Hyatt: The only game that saw Hyatt play more than 70% of the snaps was the one Darius Slayton missed. So obviously his departure would be good for Hyatt. If they plan to bring in another WR, Hyatt should be a trade candidate for New York. He’s a former third round pick and Biletnikoff award winner so someone should bite.
This is a guy I’m also trading in dynasty if he has any value. Even if his role increases, I fear that the speedster is doomed to be a field stretcher at this level. That role is valuable in real life but can be inconsistent for fantasy because of the boom-bust nature. See Marques Valdes-Scantling. Sell if you can, though I know the value is low.
Imir Smith-Marsette: The former Viking had one key duty in 2024 for the Giants - he returned every punt but one. He’s an unrestricted free agent but that’s his path to being re-signed by the team. Sometimes teams wait until after the draft to make those decisions, so we’ll have to see what happens.
Gunner Olszewski: The career special teamer missed virtually the entire season with an injury. He’s primarily a punt return guy so, if he’s fully recovered, his name could be in the mix as an option. The longer these guys hang around though, the higher their veteran minimum gets.
- Reserves/Futures: Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Dee Williams
GIANTS WR FREE AGENCY TAKE: This is a really interesting one for fantasy football. They have a versatile star in Malik Nabers to build around. Here are the options for what they could do with him.
This year they used Darius Slayton and Nabers on the outside with Wan'Dale Robinson coming in for 3 WR sets to play slot. They could either bring Slayton back or they could elevate Jalin Hyatt and stick with that.
They could also bring in a new split end. Then you have that player out wide opposite Nabers with Robinson in the slot. That would hurt Hyatt’s value for certain.
They could also bring in a big split end then use Nabers in the slot for 3 WR sets and move him out wide for 2 WR sets. That’s what teams do with guys like CeeDee Lamb and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. That would vaporize the role for Wan'Dale Robinson, however to the point that he should probably be traded.
If they are going to make a move, I think it’s an upgrade with a big-bodied WR on the outside. Then you can have him at split end, Nabers at flanker, Robinson in slot, and Hyatt as the field-stretcher (assuming he’s not unhappy and wants a trade). Here are the options for that if they sign a guy rather than drafting one. They might want to steer away from the older guys unless they are going for a veteran QB to compete now.
- POSSIBLE FREE AGENT OPTIONS: Darius Slayton, Tee Higgins, DeAndre Hopkins, Amari Cooper, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine-Ikhine, Mike Williams, Demarcus Robinson, Tim Patrick
Giants Tight End Depth Chart
Theo Johnson: The athletic Theo Johnson earned the starting tight end role as a rookie right from the jump which is fairly rare. That’s the first step for his value in dynasty but the biggest leap is next. The vast majority of fantasy relevant tight ends are top two targets on their team with few exceptions.
Malik Nabers is one. Wan'Dale Robinson was a target hog but was not super efficient with them. If they don’t make major moves, Johnson could compete for that second target spot. Adding another high-end WR really caps his upside long term though, just like Dallas Goedert trapped behind AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith for targets.
If you think the Giants add someone or that Wan'Dale gets more targets in 2024, now is the time to move Johnson while there is interest. If Twitter is to be believed, there is interest.
Daniel Bellinger: Bellinger falling behind Theo Johnson in routes run is a near death sentence for his fantasy value. He really doesn’t need to be rostered in your dynasty leagues but, if you are holding out hope, you are rooting for him to either be cut or traded honestly. Otherwise, you are holding through 2025 to see if he lands anywhere in free agency in 2026 for a fresh start.
Greg Dulcich: Dulcich is the wildcard here. After Theo Johnson got hurt, they kicked the tires on him as a pass-catching TE option to see If there was anything there. It’s hard to learn the playbook in that span so he never really cracked the lineup.
I’m actually interested in stashing Dulcich in deeper leagues where I can just to see, as he’s not going to be asked to block - he’s either catching passes or nothing. The worst possible thing for his and Johnson’s value would be for him to remain with the Giants. Luckily for both of them, he can be released with zero dead cap with $1.4M in savings. Let’s hope that happens - the free agent market at TE is thin so someone will bite.
Chris Manhertz: Manhertz is a pure blocking tight end which many teams like having at their disposal in the TE room. He’s an unrestricted free agent and could be back in 2025 or they could find someone else for that role.
- Reserves/Futures: N/A
GIANTS TE FREE AGENCY TAKE: They are pretty set up at the top of the depth chart. So, they really just need a blocking tight end if Chris Manhertz isn’t back. There are a ton of those guys floating around in free agency but here are some names that fit the bill.
- POSSIBLE FREE AGENT OPTIONS: Chris Manhertz, Mo-Allie Cox, Ross Dwelley, Harrison Bryant, Johnny Mundt, John Bates, Hunter Long
