Wedged between two massive bye weeks is a crucial fantasy football week, and every team is playing. Week 13 could be a lucky or unlucky week depending on how well an IDP manager has constructed their roster.

There will be several IDPs available due to being dropped in week 12, and a good general manager will scour the waiver wires looking for that late season advantage. Teams will be in desperation and look to bid on popular week 12 performances. In doing so they will overlook great players with a beneficial playoff schedule.

2024 Fantasy Football Week 13 IDP Overview

Playing in fantasy football IDP leagues always opens up advantages compared to strictly offensive leagues.

There are more players, there are more personal shifts, and depth pieces are required to step up due to injuries. It allows a team on a championship run to add that IDP that takes them over the edge. The list of risers, waivers, and IDPs in great matchups does just that.

Fantasy Football IDP Risers Week 13

Josh Butler cannot be ignored, and he is a fast riser up the IDP waiver board. The Dallas Cowboy defensive back has busted out with 17 tackles in his last two games, and a significant increase in his snaps played.

He is available in almost every IDP league and he needs to be bookmarked, checked, starred, put on a watchlist… whatever the platform wishes to call it. For those in leagues with deep benches take a look at Butler who still could have a relatively low FAAB cost.

It is not a fluke and it will be difficult taking out such a productive player, particularly after a much needed win. Take a look at Butler as he rises up the rankings.

Milton Williams is a defensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles, and he is rising up the rankings. He has a sack in five games this season, including two in his most recent game against the Los Angeles Rams. The fourth year defensive end from Louisiana Tech is having his best NFL season.

Williams set career high marks in sacks last week, and will be leaned on even more. Fellow teammate, and sack specialist, Brandon Graham tore his tricep in the week 12 game against the Rams. This is a huge blow to the Eagles defense, and Williams will be asked to step up in the void. Look for him to answer and keep an eye on this riser going forward.

Chop Robinson is a rookie rapidly rising up the rankings. The Miami Dolphins’ IDP has dual designation on Sleeper, which will be immensely valuable come week 14. A game that happens to be against a division rival, the New York Jets. Robinson has a sack in three of his last four games, as the Dolphins defense is putting up better numbers with the return of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa

The positive game script has allowed for their pass rushers to get to the quarterback. Robinson plays the Jets week 14 and 18, then a playoff stretch of the Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, and Cleveland Browns. All three teams have given up several sacks this season, and have potential to be great games for him.

Keep an eye on the rookie riser, even more so in dynasty leagues in which he could be floating around.

Fantasy Football Week 13 IDP Waiver Wire Targets

DeShon Elliott, Defensive Back, Pittsburgh Steelers

DeShon Elliott has been mentioned in this column before, and he is mentioned again. The Steelers are coming off of a mini bye, and Mike Tomlin is a magnificent game planner with time. During his tenure with the Steelers, they are 13-4 following a bye week, and he will have Elliott ready for a great game.

Elliott is having one of the best seasons of his career. He is on pace to break his season tackle total of 95, he has tied his career marks for forced fumbles and interceptions and has 3 fumble recoveries which is more than his other five years combined.

The former Texas Longhorn is really underappreciated as a great defensive back on a great defense. Take a look to see if he is available on the waivers and pick him up if he is. All of the Steelers remaining games are against their division opponents or a playoff bound team. Elliott will be needed for the Steelers to advance to the playoffs.

Tyler Nubin, Defensive Back, New York Giants

The New York Giants are in a state of disarray, as their offense is terrible… regardless of the quarterback. The advantage from that is their IDPs have been putting up massive points. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers embarrassed the Giants last week, and felt like they were on offense the entire game.

The Dallas Cowboys, although not great, still have shown the ability to move the ball without Dak Prescott. Both the Cowboys and the Giants played on the East Coast last week, but Dallas has the advantage of playing at home every Thanksgiving game. They also enjoy the advantage of an emotional win and perhaps they will earn their first home game victory of the season.

Tyler Nubin has 12 tackles in each of his last two games, and is playing much better than most rookies. He has 80 tackles on the season, which is second on the team. He has played almost every defensive snap for the New York Giants and should see another high snap count against the Cowboys.

Put a waiver on the rookie, and if in a dynasty league in which he is available, put heavy FAAB on him. The rookie is a bright spot on an otherwise unimpressive team.

Tyrice Knight, Linebacker, Seattle Seahawks

The third rookie graces the column as he too is worthy of a waiver bid. Tyrice Knight has really stepped up since the Seattle Seahawks waived Tyrel Dodson. He has 19 tackles in his last two games, which is really outstanding for an outside linebacker.

The Seahawks have won both of their last two games, and took control of the NFC West in the process. They knew they had a backup that was blowing up practice when they signed Jones and released Dodson. Knight will be a powerhouse going forward.

Another advantage of having the former UT-El Paso Miner on your roster is he is past his bye week. Knight plays the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, and Los Angeles Rams. All teams which allow sacks and have running backs who can run outside the box.

Pick up the rookie sensation, particularly in IDP dynasty leagues. He could be the boost to carry a team through the playoffs.

NFL Week 13 IDP Matchups To Capitalize On

New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys, Thursday 4:40 PM ET

Micah Parsons was mentioned as a pickup candidate after being injured, and hopefully he was rostered. He had a terrible game two weeks ago, but delivered for his team when they needed him most last week.

Against the Dallas Cowboys rival, the Washington Commanders, Parsons delivered his best performance of the season. 8 tackles and 2 sacks were delivered to save what little hope is left of their season. He could have a better performance this week against a bad team who seems to have a great deal of turmoil.

The New York Giants are dysfunctional right now, and have bad coaching, a bad offensive line, a backup quarterback, and a team that seems more interested in getting a high draft pick than winning football games. Parsons should feast on Thanksgiving with another two-sack performance and possibly a turkey leg.

Miami Dolphins vs. Green Bay Packers, Thursday 8:20 PM ET

Because one serving of food on Thanksgiving is never enough, how about a second player for your second serving of the night. Tyrel Dodson was traded to the Miami Dolphins, and it took him a couple weeks to see more snaps… But he is there.

The former Texas A&M Aggie played more snaps once Anthony Walker was injured. Walker left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return. He could be out multiple weeks, and could lose his position to Dodson for the remainder of the season.

Dodson earned five tackles and recorded an interception in week 12. A short week to recover likely means more snaps for Dodson against the Green Bay Packers. He should see several runs and passes to tight ends. Play him in a game the Dolphins could see more defensive snaps than offensive snaps.

Los Angeles Rams vs. New Orleans Saints, Sunday 4:05 PM ET

Chase Young has been mediocre at best this season. The former second overall pick has not looked the same since his injury while playing for the Commanders. However he does have a recorded sack in five games this season.

The New Orleans Saints are coming off of a bye week and despite being 4-7 they have a chance to win the NFC South. Most teams that fire their coach mid-season would be planning for a rebuild in the off-season. That is not the case with New Orleans who is only two games behind the Atlanta Falcons for first place.

Young is playing for a possible contract in the future, whether it be with the Saints or another NFL franchise. There is a great chance to bolster his numbers against a Rams team that gives up several sacks. Stafford was sacked five times last week, and Young should have one-on-one matches he can exploit this week.

Look for Young to have an impact in this game as the Saints look to build on their two-game winning streak.
