Steelers agreed to terms with S DeShon Elliott, formerly of the Dolphins, on a two-year, $6 million contract.
Elliott joined the Dolphins on a one-year contract last offseason after spending 2022 with the Lions. The veteran safety earned a PFF coverage grade of 64.1 last season while totaling 82 tackles, one interception, and six pass breakups. The Steelers released safety, Keanu Neal, with a failed physical designation earlier this offseason and will likely replace him with Elliott this season.
Dolphins S DeShon Elliott remains in concussion protocol.
Elliott missed last week’s win over the Jets with the concussion and has not yet cleared the league’s concussion protocol. Fellow starting safety Jevon Holland is “doing well,” according to Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel but is also not practicing as the Dolphins are protecting him until he’s 100%. With the Cowboys looming this weekend, the Dolphins will certainly need their two starting safeties on the field. While the secondary has been great since Jalen Ramsey returned, they’ve also faced teams quarterbacked by Mac Jones, Patrick Mahomes, Aidan O’Connell, Tim Boyle, Sam Howell, Will Levis, and Zach Wilson. Their next three games will be against Dak Prescott, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen, so it’s a big step up in conversation.
Dolphins declared S DeShon Elliott, C Connor Williams, QB Skylar Thompson, LB Jaelan Phillips, CB Eli Apple and TE Tyler Kroft inactive for Week 4 against the Bills.
Terron Armstead and Salvon Ahmed are active. Liam Eichenberg is expected to man the pivot for the biggest game of Week 4.
DeShon Elliott (arm/shoulder) left the Lionsâ?? Week 15 game against the Jets.
Elliott was able to walk off of the field under his own power. The Lions will move forward without their starting safety as they continue to battle with the Jets.
