Published: Aug 27, 2024
On Tuesday, August 27th, we have a massive nine-game MLB DFS main slate kicking off at 7:10 pm ET. There is a great mixture of aces, back-end starting pitching, and elite offensive options for today's MLB DFS projections.
All that being said, we have Coors Field in play as the Miami Marlins are in town for a four-game series against the Rockies. Some of the top MLB DFS picks on the mound include Jack Flaherty, Logan Gilbert, and Dylan Cease while the hitters are headlined by Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, and Jarren Duran.
That said, let's take a look at the MLB DFS projections while we bust into our favorite MLB DFS picks today!

MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Starting Pitchers
Top Options For Strikeouts
- Logan Gilbert, Seattle Mariners - 7.5 (-120)
- Spencer Schwellenbach, Atlanta Braves - 6.5 (-105)
- Jack Flaherty, Los Angeles Dodgers - 5.5 (-160)
- Dylan Cease, San Diego Padres - 5.5 (-155)
- Logan Webb, San Francisco Giants - 5.5 (-150)
Best Odds For A Win
- Jack Flaherty, Los Angeles Dodgers (-110)
- Logan Gilbert, Seattle Mariners (+115)
- Dylan Cease, San Diego Padres (+115)
- Logan Webb, San Francisco Giants (+125)
- Spencer Schwellenbach, Atlanta Braves (+130)
MLB DFS Lineups: Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Jack Flaherty, Los Angeles Dodgers
The more you look into Flaherty, the more it’s easy to love rostering him. He has the best odds on the slate to pick up a win, juiced odds on over 17.5 outs, and we know his strikeout pedigree. It’s interesting to see the elite numbers against lefties here considering how many Baltimore have in their lineup. This could be a spot we get Flaherty lower owned considering the matchup and playing elite players in tougher spots at lower ownership is a way to win yourself a tournament.
Logan Gilbert, Seattle Mariners
It’s a great spot with Tampa Bay in town as they’re a bottom-10 offense against right-handed pitching and have a top-10 strikeout rate as well. Gilbert has been significantly better at home than he has on the road. He has a 2.51 ERA at home and 3.81 ERA on the road while averaging north of five DKP more at home. Gilbert is one of my favorite MLB DFS Picks on the board.
Spencer Schwellenbach, Atlanta Braves
I slightly lean toward Schwellenbach than anyone else 9K and above outside of Gilbert for a few reasons. One, he’s the cheapest of the group and has flashed as high of a ceiling lately considering the strikeout upside he’s flashed. Schwellenbach is up to a 10.3 K/9 and a 28.2% K-rate on the year thanks to his recent stretch of seven or more strikeouts in six straight starts. He’s not as good as Gilbert in cash, but elite GPP play.
Logan Webb, San Francisco Giants
Look, let’s face it. This isn’t the easiest matchup, but there are not many pitchers like Logan Webb who are always live for a complete game. That’s very rare in this day and age. Despite being a top-10 offense against righties, the Brewers have struck out nearly 25% of the time against righties over the past 30 days. If Webb is getting grounders and missing bats, he’s impossible to solve.
Andrew Heaney, Texas Rangers
The good is that he has strikeout upside and a matchup against the White Sox. The bad is Heaney is rarely ever extended and getting him through six innings is nearly impossible. His price is great, and we should expect him to be popular because of it. Heaney is one of the better MLB DFS Picks per dollar on the board.
MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Hitters
Highest Expected Run Totals
- Colorado Rockies - 6.2
- Los Angeles Dodgers - 5.4
- Boston Red Sox - 5.3
- Miami Marlins - 5.1
MLB DFS Lineups: Core MLB DFS Hitters
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers are probably my favorite stack of the day. They hit lefties really well and face a left-handed pitching that doesn't pitch very well. Righties are hitting over .300 against Cole Irvin, have a 47% flyball rate, 38% hard-hit rate, and 1.7 HR/9. Insert Dodgers righties here:
- Mookie Betts - .893 OPS, .173 ISO, .385 wOBA
- Teoscar Hernandez - .921 OPS, .298 ISO, .381 wOBA
- Will Smith - .926 OPS, .260 ISO, .381 wOBA
- Tommy Edman (career) - .807 OPS, .207 ISO, .342 wOBA
You can also include Shohei Ohtani or Enrique Hernandez into your stacks too.
Jake Burger, Jesus Sanchez & Connor Norby, Miami Marlins
The Marlins get the Coors Field bump here and although it didn't work in their favor on Monday, that doesn't mean we shouldn't consider them again. Burger has a .400 ISO since the All-Star break and is the most live for a home run when considering how much righties have handled Quantrill this year. Sanchez drove in both Miami runs on Monday, had two hits, is hitting third and is arguably there second most potent hitter. Norby will continue to hit leadoff and has an interesting power/speed combination for less than 4K in Coors.
Colorado Rockies Left-Handed Bats
They draw a match-up against Roddery Munoz and I know it's hard to want to roster the Rockies, but today could be an exception, especially the lefties. They face Munoz who's allowed 3.65 HR/9, .303 AVG, and .440 wOBA against LHH. Below are some lefty numbers at home against righty pitching:
- Michael Toglia - .802 OPS, .211 ISO, .342 wOBA
- Jake Cave - .822 OPS, .189 ISO, .350 wOBA
- Charlie Blackmon - .865 OPS, .229 ISO, .370 wOBA
The likes of Ryan McMahon, Nolan Jones, and Sam Hilliard are in play too.
Whit Merrifield, Atlanta Braves
I mean, what has gotten into this guy? Merrifield was a one-time fantasy stud but has fallen off the past few seasons only to have a late-season resurgence since arriving in Atlanta. He's coming off a 5-for-5 night and has now hit .389 over his last 10 games. They've hit him either first or second lately and this is an interesting spot against a pitcher that is likely going to regress sonner rather than later.
Joey Loperfido, Toronto Blue Jays
We're seeing the fruits of playing every day. Loperfido has hit .345 with a near 1.200 OPS over his last 10 games and more often than not he's found himself hitting second. He's really cheap and provides great value on a slate with elite pitching and spend ups offensively.
ADDED - Boston Red Sox
Another theme today is team stacks. It's hard not to love Boston today when you factor in they're home against a right-handed pitcher. A pitcher who has been quite lucky against left-handed bats to boot. Jarren Duran is unconscious and has been all year against righties. Tristan Casas has been really good since returning from the IL. We know how good Rafael Devers is against righties and the likes of Masataka Yoshida, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Wilyer Abreu round out the stack.

Player News
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that Zach Eflin (lat) is likely to return and start Sunday against the Angels
It was assumed that Eflin would be back this weekend, but now we have a concrete date. The 31-year-old may not be at full strength after throwing fewer than 60 pitches in his rehab start, but the Orioles feel confident enough to have the right-hander back on the bump for the series finale against the Angels.
Riley Greene is not in the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies on Thursday.
Greene will get a break and likely return to the lineup for the second game of the twin-billing. Zach McKinstry will get the start in left field while Greene rests.
Yu Darvish (elbow) is facing live hitters on Thursday.
Darvish has been throwing bullpen sessions and traveled to the team’s complex in Arizona to face live hitters on Thursday. It will be his first time facing live batters since a spring training appearance on March 13th. He will likely need a few sessions like this before the Padres can map out a rehab appearance timeline for him.
Adael Amador is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Rockies on Thursday.
Amador has now started three of the last four games at second base for the Rockies. He’s gone just 7-for-43 this season with 15 strikeouts in 16 games. He’s just 22 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to adjust to the MLB level, but he doesn’t need to be on redraft radars right now.
Jackson Holliday is playing second base and batting second for the Orioles on Thursday against the Twins.
With Cedric Mullins sitting out on Thursday, Gunnar Henderson will bat lead off, and Holliday will jump up from sixth in the order to second. Holliday is riding a hot streak right now, and the Orioles are taking advantage. This is likely just a one-game sample with no Mullins or Adley Rutschman in the lineup, but Rutschman has been struggling, so perhaps it could become a more permanent spot in the lineup for Holliday moving forward.
Endy Rodriguez (finger) had his splint removed this week.
Rodriguez suffered a lacerated right index finger on April 14th. Now that he is out of his splint, he “is playing catch and doing a slightly modified swing.” Once he can progress to taking full swings, we’ll have a better sense of the timeline for his return.
