Marlins activated OF Jesús Sánchez from the 10-day injured list.

Jonah Bride was designated for assignment to make room. Sánchez, out since the start of the year with an oblique strain, is back after going 3-for-10 with a double in three minor league games. He’ll get a spot in the middle of the Marlins lineup against right-handers, though he could do a fair amount of DHing with both Kyle Stowers and Griffin Conine playing well (and being better outfield defenders). Eric Wagaman, who had been picking up starts against righties as Bride was losing them, figures to spend more time on the bench again now. Sánchez is a fringe mixed-league option at the moment, but he could be more than that if he’s traded to a contender later on.

Jesús Sánchez went 2-for-4 with a double in the first game of a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.

Sánchez should return from his oblique strain next week. With Kyle Stowers performing well, Griffin Conine would seem to be in danger of losing a bunch of at-bats. Unless the team bails on Jonah Bride, Eric Wagaman might be sent down to make room.

Marlins placed OF Jesús Sánchez on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.

Sánchez was hurt on March 15th and was set to miss four weeks at that time. He will likely need another three weeks before beginning a rehab assignment and trying to work his way back into the Marlins’ lineup. It seems that Griffin Conine will step into the starting lineup in his place.

Jesús Sánchez has been diagnosed with a left oblique strain and will miss four weeks.

Not great. Sánchez suffered the oblique injury during Thursday’s spring contest against the Braves and will require a trip to the injured list at the outset of the regular season. His absence likely leads to a starting role for Dane Myers in right field for a couple weeks. The 27-year-old slugging corner outfielder put together the strongest year of his career last season when he posted 18 homers and 16 steals in 149 contests. Barring any setbacks, which isn’t a given with oblique issues, he should return by mid-to-late April.
