Jake Burger went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Sunday against the Rangers.
Not only is Burger batting .179, but he also has only one walk to go along with 21 strikeouts in 70 plate appearances. Many were pretty optimistic about Burger in Texas, but he’s always had big plate discipline issues, and his 103 OPS+ last year didn’t make him a very good regular for the Marlins. There’s a chance the Rangers might be better off with Blaine Crim or Justin Foscue at first.
Jake Burger (illness) is back in the lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Angels.
Burger is back at first base and batting seventh on Wednesday night after missing only one game due to illness. The 29-year-old slugger is aiming to turn things around after hitting .151 (8-for-53) with two homers and seven RBI through 15 games.
Jake Burger is out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Angels with an illness.
Josh Smith is also out of the lineup nursing a thumb contusion. Burger takes a seat with Ezequiel Duran taking over at the cold corner in his absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. The 29-year-old slugger has gotten off to an ice-cold start at the dish this season, batting .151 (8-for-53) with two homers and seven RBI through 15 games.
Jake Burger went 1-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts as a split-squad Rangers’ club was defeated by the Padres on Thursday night.
Burger was the only expected starter for the Rangers who made the trip in this one, and he contributed one of just six total hits with his two-out single in the third inning. The 28-year-old slugger has had a rough spring overall in his first camp with the Rangers, hitting just .188 (9-for-48) with a pair of homers, six RBI and a stolen base.
