MLB DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, September 2

Today, we have many excellent pitching options that I really like. I had a hard time narrowing it down to my favorites, as Osvaldo Bido and Jared Jones both could have made the list and are also viable options today.

On the offensive side, with so many pitchers I like, finding offense is a bit harder. Still, some of my favorite lineups to target today include the San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, and Minnesota Twins.

MLB Weather Today, 9/2

Luckily, the two games that have weather in the area both have roofed stadiums, so there shouldn’t be any weather issues today!

MLB DFS Lineups: Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Logan Gilbert, Seattle Mariners

Logan Gilbert is your top-priced pitcher in today's MLB DFS projections, but he should be and remains my favorite option on the slate. He has had a couple of rough outings over his recent stretch, getting beat up by the Dodgers and Red Sox, but those are both solid offenses, and besides those, he has been incredibly dominant.

We know that Oakland isn’t an offense you can just attack anymore, but they also aren’t to the level that I am at all scared of them when there is an ace on the mound, and Logan Gilbert is an Ace. While guys like Gerrit Cole and Joe Musgrove have plenty of upside, I think Logan Gilbert is by far the most reliable option and easily the most likely to be your top-scoring pitcher on the slate.

Gerrit Cole, New York Yankees

Gerrit Cole hasn’t been the Cole we are used to since his return, but he has still been very good. He has a few low strikeout games, but he still has at least 7 strikeouts in 3 of his last 4 starts, including a 10-strikeout game against the Rangers.

The Ranger's offense has been very mediocre for a while now, and while he might not get 10 strikeouts again, it is incredibly possible. I would bet he, at the very least, hits the 7-strikeout mark once again, and I will be surprised if he struggles to put up a pretty solid outing in this matchup.

Joe Musgrove, San Diego Padres

Only 3 strikeouts in his last outing against the Cardinals, but it was still a quality start. Before that, he threw 7 scoreless innings against the New York Mets with 9 strikeouts after having survived Coors, giving up only 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts.

I do like what this Tigers offense has been doing recently, but I think we are seeing Musgrove start to get his groove a bit more. When he does, I see no reason why he shouldn’t still be considered a top pitcher in baseball down the stretch after a mostly lost season. This feels like too much of a discount for the quality of pitcher that Musgrove still is.

Simeon Woods Richardson, Minnesota Twins

The next of our MLB DFS picks has some risk, as there should be with the second lowest-priced pitcher on the slate. He has some start-to-start volatility with a fair mix of poor outings from him, but he has a lot of excellent starts recently against some good opponents, and I don’t see why he should be available for quite this low of a price.

The Rays are a great matchup for him. They are slashing .216/.280/.350 with a 26.6% strikeout rate since August 1st against right-handed pitchers. There is a really good chance he can go out and pitch at least 5 innings with 6+ strikeouts and get the win in this matchup, and I am rarely that optimistic for a pitcher that is priced this low.

MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Hitters

Highest Expected Run Totals

MLB DFS Lineups: Core MLB DFS Hitters

Rowdy Tellez, 1B Pittsburgh Pirates

Rowdy Tellez has 11 hits over his last 9 games including 2 homers. Over that stretch he has slashed .393/.433/.643, and with the star power at the top end of first base not quite as good as it usually is on this slate I think he is a great value option to turn to to pay up at other places.

He faces Jameson Taillon, who has struggled against lefties, especially with the long ball, with a 1.63 HR/9 against lefties this season. This has a lot of homer potential for Rowdy at a low price.

Gleyber Torres, 2B New York Yankees

Hitting in front of Juan Soto and Aaron Judge must be a lot of fun. Gleyber Torres has gotten to be the leadoff man for the Yankees for 15 straight games now and has hits in all but 3 of them. In that time he has slashed .271/.371/.407.

His price is still not prohibitive at all, which is necessary especially if you want to get one or both of the batters who follow him in the lineup. Considering today's MLB DFS projections, that actually might not be a terrible idea.

Royce Lewis, 3B Minnesota Twins

Royce Lewis had been in quite the cold stretch. He homered 4 times in August by the 12th and then didn’t homer for the rest of the month. He did just start September with a homer, ending his drought, and we know that Royce Lewis can start hitting homers every single day at any time.

I think his price has dropped too much, and I think that he may turn things right around so I am willing to take this discount coming off a day with a homer and see if this is the start of another hot streak for him because if it is he will be back up to costing $6,000 real quick.

Giancarlo Stanton, OF New York Yankees

I think Giancarlo Stanton might be getting more attention and being priced higher if he wasn’t a teammate of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto because $4,800 feels like a steal for him today. I still don’t trust Jack Leiter. I think he isn’t quite ready for the Majors yet, and I doubt he can survive this Yankees lineup.

Stanton has 4 homers over his last 9 games and is looking to finish up his best season at the plate sinced 2021. We are done wishing on 40+ homer season for Stanton, but he still has real power and has been showing it lately, and I want him for today's MLB DFS picks today.
