Wednesday's MLB DFS slate features 11 games which will make for some interesting roster construction today both on DraftKings and FanDuel given large player pool and the fact that we have Coors Field on this slate in a game with the highest projected game total on the board.

This slate has some elite pitching and a lot of expensive plays which will make roster construction and game stacks quite interesting when it comes to our lineup builds.

Before building your DFS lineups here today, make sure you check out the MLB DFS Preview Show with myself and James Grande as we give you a first look at today's DraftKings main slate and break down our top plays, values and fades before building an example lineup at the end of the show.

There are lots of great players to talk about, so let’s just dive right into today’s playbook and some of my favorite MLB DFS picks for the day!

Tampa Bay Rays vs Kansas City Royals

  • Rain in the area but unlikely to impact this game. Will have updates if needed as we get closer to roster lock.

MLB DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

With 11 games on the main slate there are some choices that have to be made. The first of those choices is whether or not you are going to be stacking the Brewers vs Rockies game.

The Coors Field matchup has the highest run total on the board here this evening and while these two teams failed to deliver fireworks last night, there is always a chance for elite fantasy production.

If you decide you ARE playing Coors then that will likely eliminate you from paying up for the Dodgers and possibly even the top end starting pitching on this slate.

If you ARE NOT playing Coors then Chris Sale is looking like the obvious option at pitching. Yes, he is expensive but the matchup is elite.

Not full-stacking Coors also put you in play to stack other hitters in great spots such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros and Cincinnati Reds.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Chris Sale, Atlanta Braves

The Giants are a decent team against left-handed pitching so on paper this is a tough matchup for Chris Sale but on the flip side we have Sale who has been dominant of late, going 7-2 with a 2.32 ERA over his last 10 starts while striking out 85 over 62 innings. Sale has allowed more then two earned runs in just three of his 15 starts on the year and is looking like a Cy Young contender in his first season with the Braves.

Gavin Stone, Los Angeles Dodgers

One of the biggest favorites to get a win today, Stone has been tremendous for the Dodgers pitching staff this season, going 9-2 with a 2.33 ERA. Today he faces a Diamondbacks lineup that has some decent hitters but overall this is a team that finds far more success against left-handed pitchers than right-handed pitchers. An initial knock against Stone was the lack of strikeouts but he has finished with at least six strikeouts in five of his last six outings.

Davis Daniel, Los Angeles Angels

We often talk about good chalk vs bad chalk and here is really the ultimate test of that. Daniel is expected to be one of the higher rostered pitchers here today as he draws a matchup against the Oakland Athletics. This comes on the heels of him tossing eight shutout innings in his debut with eight strikeouts against the Tigers. So, why is this a question of good chalk vs bad chalk? Well, Daniel is a 27-year old career minor leaguer who had an ERA of 5.33 over 14 starts in AAA this season. For his minor league career he has an ERA of 4.27 over 65 appearances. So, what is more likely to happen here? That Daniel goes out and tosses another gem? OR is it more likely that he regresses back to being a four-A level pitcher? The price and the matchup make him worthy of consideration, just know the risks.

Michael Wacha, Kansas City Royals

If you want to save some money and not pitch Davis Daniel here today then Wacha is the play for me.  Overall this season he has been pretty solid for the Royals with a few hiccups earlier in the year but he has generally limited the damage done against him and the Royals are favorites to win tonight against the Rays.

Brewers/Rockies

Lets just  get this one out of the way shall we? We have the highest game total on the board. You can use pretty much anyone in the line on either team in this matchup. The Brewers are the better overall value when it comes to price tags and may lean in that direction with Jake Bauers, Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell and Jackson Chourio rather affordable.

Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers

We don't have an official starting pitcher for the Diamondbacks here tonight but that isn't really a big concern. Ohtani is a monster and will continue to be one of the top hitting options each and every slate that he is on.

Jose Miranda, Minnesota Twins

Miranda actually hammers right-handed pitching and the Twins are one of my favorite stacks of the day here against the Tigers and Keider Montero who has allowed nine runs over 8.2 innings this season.

Miranda is hitting .327 with a .393 wOBA and a .220 ISO against right-handed pitching this season.

Brooks Lee, Minnesota Twins

With Royce Lewis being placed on the IL the Twins are calling up top prospect Brooks Lee. At triple-A this season Lee was hitting over .300 with seven homers and a great strikeout to walk ratio. This is a great matchup today as well as we are going in on the Twins. The best part? He is min-price tonight.
