MLB Week 6 Injury Report Update: Pitchers
Walker Buehler, Boston Red Sox - Shoulder
Buehler is dealing with a shoulder issue, and you can hear Alex Cora talk about it below.
Cole Ragans, Kansas City Royals - Groin
Ragans has a mild groin strain and his 4/30 start was skipped. At this point, it’s unlikely Ragans toes the rubber until next week.
Tyler Glasnow, Los Angeles Dodgers - Shoulder
The Dodgers placed Glasnow on the IL with inflammation in his shoulder. In two weeks, he’ll be re-evaluated, and we should have more clarity about a timetable to return after that.
Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers - Toe/Knee
Kershaw worked up to 66 pitches over five innings of work in his last rehab start. Before running out to pick up Kershaw for your team, keep in mind that across 30 IP last season, he posted a 4.50 ERA with a 18.0 K%.
George Kirby, Seattle Mariners - Shoulder
Positive reports emerged from Kirby’s live BP session on April 28th, and it seems like the next step will be for Kirby to embark on a rehab assignment.
Justin Martinez, Arizona Diamondbacks - Shoulder
Inflammation in his shoulder seems to be the culprit for the diminished velocity in recent outings for Martinez. He was placed on the IL, and the duo of Shelby Miller and Kevin Ginkel should handle the majority of the save chances, though it was Ryan Thompson who got the save on 4/30.
Lance McCullers, Houston Astros - Flexor Tendon
Barring any last minute setbacks, it’s all systems go for McCullers on Sunday against the White Sox, which will be his first MLB game since the 2022 World Series.
Ranger Suarez, Philadelphia Phillies - Back
Like McCullers above, Suarez will be activated from the injured list and make his season debut on Sunday.
Brandon Woodruff, Milwaukee Brewers - Shoulder
After working up to 74 pitches in his most recent rehab start, the door seemed to be open for his next start to be in the bigs. However, the plan is for him to make another rehab start.
MLB Week 6 Injury Report Update: Hitters
Jazz Chisholm, New York Yankees - Oblique/Rib
Yea, the flank is an area on the human body, and it’s on the side of your body between the rib cage and hip bone. He’s day-to-day at the moment.
Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels - Knee
Trout exited early on Wednesday with knee soreness, and he also missed Thursday’s game. He was subsequently placed on the injured list with a bone bruise in that left knee.
Jackson Merrill, San Diego Padres - Hamstring
Merrill should be returning early next week, barring any setbacks.
Ivan Herrera, St. Louis Cardinals - Knee
Herrera’s rehab assignment kicked off on Thursday.
Salvador Perez, Kansas City Royals - Hip
Perez exited Thursday’s game early with hip soreness. Consider him day-to-day.
Josh Lowe, Tampa Bay Rays - Oblique
So long as everything goes well with an upcoming live BP session, Lowe could head out on a rehab assignment this weekend.
Jeimer Candelario, Cincinnati Reds - Back
Candelario was placed on the IL on April 30th with a lumbar spine strain. Gavin Lux, among others, will see ABs at the DH spot during Candelario’s absence.
Kristian Campbell, Boston Red Sox - Rib
Campbell was a late scratch on Thursday with some discomfort in his right rib/side area. Consider him day-to-day at this juncture.
Tyler Fitzgerald, San Francisco Giants - Rib
Fitzgerald has a fractured left rib and was placed on the IL. Brett Wisely was recalled from Triple-A, and believe it or not, the expectation is that Fitzgerald will only be out about two weeks.
Luke Raley, Seattle Mariners - Oblique
An oblique strain is expected to sideline Raley for 6+ weeks.
