Welcome to the NFL DFS Week 8 RB Coach article! I had a nice bounce back in Week 7 after a subpar Week 6.

Saquon Barkley (29.7 DK/ 28.7 FD points), Bijan Robinson (26.3 DK/ 24.8 FD points), Joe Mixon (29.4 DK/ 28.4 FD points), Kyren Williams (19.6 DK/ 19.6 FD points) and of course the ultimate NFL DFS RB, Derrick Henry (28.2 DK/ 27.7 FD points) led the way.

Chuba Hubbard (11.2 DK/ 11.2 FD points) and J.K. Dobbins (9.6 DK/ 8.1 FD points) weren’t total duds, but with their lower ranging DFS salaries, you basically got what you paid for.

NFL DFS Week 8 RB Coach For FanDuel & DraftKings Fantasy

Thankfully, no teams are on a bye in Week 8 and there are plenty of guys to choose from in our NFL DFS Week 8 RB Coach. We’re starting to see a changing of the guard in some backfields as we approach the midpoint of the NFL season.

The good news is that having every team playing in Week 8 gives us a chance to watch some emerging talent from the sidelines while still having plenty of talent from which to choose from in the NFL DFS Week 8 RB Coach and put in our lineups.

NFL Week 8 RBs

I’m going to be watching how the Cincinnati Bengals distribute their carries in Week 8. Chase Brown ($5800 DK/$6600 FD) seems to have leap frogged over Zack Moss ($5700 DK/$6300 FD) and he looks like the team’s primary RB…at least for now.

I’ll also continue to watch my unwatchable New York Giants because I’m a fan, and because it looks like they’ve made a change to their RB depth chart. Their offense is a mess, but Tyrone Tracy played more than three times as many snaps as Devin Singletary in Week 7.

Singletary had been the team’s lead back prior to suffering a groin injury. If the Giants continue to get blown out in games Tracy Jr. (who is a former WR) could provide NFL DFS RB value because of his ability to catch balls out of the backfield.

I’m also interested in monitoring how the Jacksonville Jaguars will distribute their backfield workload once Travis Etienne ($5900 DK/$7100 FD) is fully healthy (hamstring – day to day). Based on his Week 7 performance, Tank Bigsby ($6300 DK/$7100 FD) has certainly earned the chance to have an expanded role as an NFL DFS RB in the Jaguars’ offense moving forward.

I’ll also have my eye on Nick Chubb ($6100 DK/$6900 FD), Ray Davis ($5200 DK/$5900 FD) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs to see how their usage changes over the next few weeks and to determine if they’re worthy of being added to future lineups as NFL DFS RBs.

Luckily for us, there are a bunch of NFL DFS RBs worthy of being added to NFL DFS lineups in Week 8. The following are my favorite picks for the NFL DFS Week 8 RB Coach and hopefully by the time Week 8 is over, they’ll be your favorites too!

NFL DFS RB Top-Tier Picks For Week 8

Kenneth Walker, RB Seattle Seahawks - DraftKings: $7,800 | FanDuel: $7,800

Walker III returned to form in Week 7, rushing for 69 yards on 14 carries (4.93 YPC). The Seahawks were blowing out the Falcons and used Walker III’s handcuff, Zach Charbonnet during the last few minutes of the fourth quarter and that limited his production.

Walker III still managed to score 23.3 DK and 22.3 FD points last week. He has a favorable matchup against the Buffalo Bills who have given up 4.77 YPC and the second most receptions (44) to NFL DFS RBs this season.

Jordan Mason, RB San Francisco 49ers - DraftKings: $7,900 | FanDuel: $8,900

There were question marks surrounding Mason’s health entering Week 7 but he ended up playing his second highest percentage of offensive snaps (86) of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs

He has a great matchup against the Dallas Cowboys who have given up 4.6 YPC and the third most rushing TDs (8) to RBs this season. Hopefully the Cowboys haven’t figured out how to defend against the run during their bye week and if they haven’t, Mason should feast as a Week 8 NFL DFS RB.

NFL DFS RB Mid-Tier Picks For Week 8

Breece Hall, RB New York Jets - DraftKings: $7,300 | FanDuel: $7,900

Hall averaged under 10 carries per game during Weeks 4 and 5, and 15 carries per week in his last two games.

I’m not sure if his uptick in usage is because Todd Downing is now calling plays for the New York Jets and realizes that Hall is an awesome talent, or because Hall was dealing with an undisclosed injury and is now healthy, but Hall should be able to run wild as a Week 8 NFL DFS RB against a bad New England Patriots run defense on Sunday.

The Pats have given up 4.85 YPC and the second most rushing TDs (9) to RB this season.

Brian Robinson, RB Washington Commanders - DraftKings: $6,400 | FanDuel: $7,600

I stayed away from Robinson Jr. last week because of his health (knee) but he ran the ball 12 times for 71 yards (5.92 YPC) and scored a TD against a bad Carolina Panthers run defense. He’ll be running against a Chicago Bears run defense that has given up 4.93 YPC to NFL DFS RBs in their last four games.

The Commanders run the ball 51.5% of the time and while that number may be a bit inflated because QB Jayden Daniels likes to use his legs, Robinson Jr. is averaging just over 14 carries per game, and he has the opportunity to be a productive Week 8 NFL DFS RB.

Kareem Hunt, RB Kansas City Chiefs - DraftKings: $6,300 | FanDuel: $8,100

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is back on the Chiefs’ active roster and may be making his season debut in Week 8, but Hunt is still likely to be the team’s lead NFL DFS RB.

Hunt wasn’t on many fantasy football manager’s radar heading into the 2024 season and yet he’s averaging 18.2 DraftKings and 17.33 FanDuel fantasy points per week. The Chiefs have made running the ball a priority this season.

During the 2023 season they ran the ball 39.66% of the time and this season that percentage has increased to 48.84. Hunt has a good matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders who are giving up 4.95 YPC to RBs and the third most receptions (36) to the position this season. It’s interesting to note that based on his $8,100 salary FanDuel is valuing Hunt as a top-tier NFL DFS RB.

NFL DFS RB Value Picks For Week 8

D’Andre Swift, RB Chicago Bears - DraftKings: $6,200 | FanDuel: $6,500

Swift has really turned his season around. In his first three games he averaged 1.84 YPC and he didn’t score a TD. Since then, Swift has scored at least one TD in each of his last three games and he’s averaging 4.76 YPC.

In Week 8 he’ll face the Washington Commanders who have given up the sixth most rushing yards (801) and 5.17 YPC to RBs this season. The Bears ran the ball 52.17% of the time in their last three games and if they continue to prioritize the run against the Commanders, Swift will likely be one of the top Week 8 NFL DFS RBs.

Javonte Williams, RB Denver Broncos - DraftKings: $6,000 | FanDuel: $6,000

Williams is another NFL DFS RB who has turned his season around. In his first three games Williams didn’t score a TD and he averaged eight carries per game and 2.17 YPC. In his last four matchups Williams has scored two TDs and he’s averaging 12.3 carries per game and 5.08 YPC.

Williams has a juicy matchup against a Carolina Panthers run defense that may be the worst in the league. They’ve given up the most rushing yards (933) and rushing TDs (13) to RBs this season.

NFL DFS RB Fades For Week 8

Tampa Bay RBs

It looks like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ backfield consists of a three-headed monster: Rachaad White, Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker

With their WR room decimated by injuries the Bucs will probably run the ball more moving forward but before I include any Bucs RB in my DFS lineups I need some clarity as to each RB’s role for the rest of the season.

NFL Week 8 RB Play Of The Week

Derrick Henry, RB Baltimore Ravens - DraftKings: $8,100 | FanDuel: $9,200

There’s not much to say about Henry except that he’s matchup proof and you should at least consider using him as an NFL DFS RB every week until he shows signs of slowing down.

Henry has scored at least one TD, either on the ground or through the air in every game he’s played in so far this season.
