NFL DFS Week 17 QB Coach: Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Jordan Love

Week 17 of the NFL season is here and the Sunday main slate is the smallest we've had all season due to the NFL playing two games on Wednesday for Christmas, TNF, three games on Saturday and then the SNF and MNF primetime matchups leaving us just eight games on DraftKings and nine games on FanDuel.

As with every week, this week, we once again look to take advantage of some top matchups for our NFL DFS Week 17 QB coach as I bring you my NFL DFS Week 17 QB coach top targets, values and fades to build your lineups around this weekend.

NFL DFS Week 16 QB Coach Recap

I guess all I can say about last weeks QB Coach is my bad. We faded Jayden Daniels in his matchup against the Eagles and he torched them, finishing as the top overall scoring QB of the week. Sure, we nailed the value pick of Caleb Williams but by in large this was the least successful QB Coach of the season.

Though Week 17 doesn't give us much of a player pool to work with, there are still some matchups worth targeting to get us back to the winning ways we've been accustomed to this season.

NFL DFS QB Top Tier & Play of the Week For Week 17

Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders - FanDuel: $5,500

FanDuel only play with the Falcons and Commanders playing on Sunday Night Football but it's difficult to not want some exposure to Daniels this week, not just because of what he did last week against the Eagles but because of the smaller player pool to choose from. Few QB's on the slate can match his upside given his rushing upside and he continues to make plays in the passing game even when the throws aren't going to Terry McClaurin. 

Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DraftKings: $6,900  | FanDuel: $8,200

The Buccaneers draw a very good matchup against the Carolina Panthers this weekend and there is one thing that is one everyone's mind heading into this matchup and that's the 1,000-yard streak for Buccaneers WR Mike Evans. With two weeks remaining Evans is sitting at 818 yards, needing 182 yards to hit the 1,000-yard plateau for the 11th straight season. I'd be willing to be that Mayfield and Evans connect on quite a few throws here this week to get Evans closer to his milestone. 

Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings - DraftKings: $6,300 | FanDuel: $7,700

The Vikings are still battling for the division lead, sitting tied with the Detroit Lions at 13-2. The Packers have also already clinched a playoff spot and are fighting for playoff seeding, sitting just two games back of Minnesota on the season. With this being a must win game, we should love both QB's in this matchup. What's even better is the dome environment, allowing both teams to play fast and without concern of the cold weather that hits the north at this time of the year.

Darnold is coming off of an impressive three touchdown game against the Seahawks in Week 16 and we saw him throw for 275 and three scores against the Packers back in Week 4.

NFL DFS QB Mid-Tier Picks For NFL Week 17

Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts - DraftKings: $6,300 | FanDuel: $8,000

So, I guess we need to see if Richardson is going to be active or not as the Colts QB has yet to practice this week. If he sits then obviously Joe Flacco becomes an appealing value play against the New York Giants this week but for now we roll with Richardson who had his rushing upside on display against the Titans last week, totaling 70 yards and a score on the ground. Richardson completed just seven of 11 passes for 131 yards and a score as is passing numbers continue to disappoint but with rushing touchdowns in three straight games the fantasy value has held up.

Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers - DraftKings: $5,900 | FanDuel: 

NFL Week 17 DFS QB Value Picks

What a wild season for Bryce Young. Looked lost and then benched in the early weeks, then returned after a few weeks as the starter following the Andy Dalton car accident and has looked like a whole new QB. Sure, there are still some inconsistencies but Panthers fans have to be encouraged by the growth in the second half of the season.

Last week against the Cardinals was another promising step as he completed 65% of his passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 68 yards and another score. 

NFL DFS QB Value Picks For NFL Week 17

Mason Rudolph, Tennessee Titans - DraftKings: $5,000 | FanDuel: $6,700

For the price he hasn't been awful and now he has a great matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The one downside this week is the fact that it's pretty much going to rain up the entire east coast and how much rain and when will really impact the validity of some of these plays.

For Rudolph, since taking over for Levis over the last two weeks he has finished with an average of 17 fantasy points per game.

That's all we need for a QB that is $5,000 on DraftKings and $6,700 on FanDuel.

Aidan O'Connell, Las Vegas Raiders - DraftKings: $5,100 | FanDuel: $6,800

The Saints defense is pretty bad and while the Raiders offense hasn't gotten much going either they still have some playmakers in the passing game that makes O'Connell at least an appealing dart throw as a value plays as you look to stack him with Brock Bowers or Jakobi Meyers this weekend.

NFL DFS QB Fades For Week 17

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins - DraftKings: $5,800 | FanDuel: $7,500

There is not a lot going for Tua in this matchup. First, we have Tua on the road in some potentially bad weather and a bit cold. We also look at the fact that he has been limited in practice this week with a hip injury and that Jaylen Waddle is looking like he may miss yet another week due to injury. I'm out on the Dolphins offense this weekend.

NFL DFS QB Play of the Week For Week 17

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers - DraftKings: $6,200 | FanDuel: $7,800

I've been high on Love all season and the injuries really derailed what should have been a monster year. That said, he still has managed to throw for 3,135 yards with 24 touchdowns on the season. Four of those 24 touchdowns came against the Vikings back in Week 4, his first game returning from injury. The Vikings pass defense continues to struggle and even if Christian Watson is out the Packers have plenty of playmakers at wide receiver to put Love in a position to be successful this week.
