NFL Free Agency 2025: Philadelphia Eagles Depth Chart + Offseason Moves

World Champions.
I know the Super Bowl was just a few days ago, but you never get tired of saying it. Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and the Philadelphia Eagles took down the Kansas City Chiefs in a decisive win. Nothing is sweeter.
And guess what? Now it’s time to get back to work. There’s less than 30 days before NFL free agency. And now the Eagles are behind everyone else, as they were focused on the big game. In the afterglow of victory, let’s take a look at their depth chart, contracts, cap space, and free agents to predict what they might do here in free agency.
If you play dynasty fantasy football or early best ball, maybe you can use some of this info to your advantage!

Eagles Quarterback Depth Chart
Jalen Hurts: Hurts is one of the league’s best quarterbacks and he’s under contract on a long-term deal so there’s not too much to debate here. As a mobile quarterback that is still fairly young, he’s one of the most valuable dynasty assets regardless of format.
Kenny Pickett: Kenny Pickett is an interesting one. Like many QBs that don’t pan out, he was able to find his way to a quality organization in hopes of learning and developing. Oftentimes the starter gets hurt, he gets a chance to show what he can do, and a team picks him up.
Pickett didn’t get much of a chance to play so the market for him might not be as good as it is for, say, Mac Jones. They already opted not to pick up his fifth year option so he’ll be an unrestricted free agent. I’m sure he will test the waters of free agency to see if there is a place he can compete but he might end up back with Philadelphia on a short term deal again. They might not need him though because of this next guy.
Tanner McKee: Tanner McKee got a chance to start in a “meaningless” game against the Giants that proved pretty meaningful to him. He looked pretty solid in a game they managed to win without multiple starters playing. That bolsters his case to be the QB2 in 2025 which would be a lot easier than retaining Pickett or chasing a veteran. He’s on a cheap rookie deal through 2026.
- Reserves/Futures: N/A
EAGLES QB FREE AGENCY TAKE: If the Eagles do decide that Tanner McKee is worthy of the QB2 title, they really only need a practice squad level QB3. Someone that can help on scout team and wear that “emergency QB3 label” as an inactive player on game days.
That’s something they could pick up late in the draft or cheap via free agency. If they do want to go with something a little more secure in free agency, Kenny Pickett could be back or maybe they can convince familiar face Marcus Mariota to return.
- POSSIBLE FREE AGENT OPTIONS: Kenny Pickett, Marcus Mariota
Eagles Running Back Depth Chart
Saquon Barkley: It’s not often that you can venture into free agency and pick up the Offensive Player of the Year. And OPOY is honestly underselling what Saquon Barkley did this year. They’ll eventually need to start thinking of the RB of the future as it’s the shortest shelf-life position but Barkley is signed through 2026 and they’re more likely to extend him given what we saw than move on.
Kenneth Gainwell: Gainwell is an unrestricted free agent here. And he’ll certainly be valued by other teams. Not only can he be utilized on pass downs but he’s a rock solid kick returner. If he does move on in hopes of a bigger role with another team, the Eagles will need depth.
Will Shipley: If the Eagles do let Gainwell walk, that shows a vote of confidence in rookie Will Shipley. He’s got a similar skill set to Gainwell and also returned a few kicks this year himself.
They’d still need to fill in the depth chart behind him but, if Gainwell does leave, anyone rostering Saquon Barkley would be wise to check the price on Shipley. If they bring Gainwell back on a multi-year deal of any kind, that would be fairly painful for the dynasty value of Shipley.
Khari Blasingame: On offense he’s a fullback but for the Eagles he has primarily played special teams. If he’s retained as a free agent that would likely be his role again and would not have much impact on the RB depth chart.
- Reserves/Futures: Lew Nichols
EAGLES RB FREE AGENCY TAKE: If Kenneth Gainwell is back then they should be all set though even having just three backs is cutting it close in the modern NFL. If Gainwell walks, the Eagles will need to do something.
It would be nice if the guy coming in could help with kicks like Gainwell did. They could bring in someone with a similar skill set to Gainwell. Or, since Will Shipley can do those things, maybe they bring in more of a bruiser with a complimentary skill set. Here are the options available that also contribute on special teams.
- POSSIBLE FREE AGENT OPTIONS: Kenneth Gainwell, Kene Nwangwu, Avery Williams, Ameer Abdullah, Nyheim Hines
Eagles Wide Receiver Depth Chart
A.J. Brown: The Eagles recognized the upside for A.J. Brown when they traded for him from the Titans. And they signed him to a long-term deal that keeps him tied to Jalen Hurts for the next couple of years at least.
As a 27 year old which is right in the age apex for WRs, I’m not sure why he’s not valued higher on trade charts like PeakedInHighSchool (which essentially measures industry sentiment). This is a pretty obvious buy for competing teams if you can actually trade one first round pick for him. He’s worth a first plus easily.
DeVonta Smith: It can not be overstated how good of a job Howie Roseman has done. They traded for A.J. Brown. They signed Saquon Barkley. They drafted DeVonta Smith. If you invented another way to acquire players, Roseman would take advantage of it. As with A.J. Brown, Smith has been given a long term extension that should keep him through at least 2027.
Jahan Dotson: Dotson is under contract for 2025 and, as a first round pick, the Eagles could pick up his fifth year option for 2026. As of now it seems unlikely they will do that given his lack of production thus far. There is no benefit cap-wise in releasing him though a trade of any kind would send his $2.7M cap hit with him.
With Barkley, Brown, Smith, and Goedert the reality is that the Eagles don’t need to go crazy acquiring a WR3 so Dotson could retain that role for next year. It’s not a super relevant one for fantasy unless multiple other pass catchers get hurt.
Johnny Wilson: Wilson is a big fella at 6’6” and nearly 230 pounds. That had some folks speculating that he could be drafted with the plan to convert him to tight end but he wants to play wide receiver. His top games in terms of snap counts came in the ones that A.J. Brown and/or DeVonta Smith were out but the only time he caught more than two passes was the season finale when all the starters rested.
Typically we wouldn’t hold out much hope for late draft picks like this that are down the depth chart. But in deep dynasty leagues he might be worth a stash in the hopes he eventually does convert to tight end. That was the path for guys like Darren Waller and Juwan Johnson to become relevant.
Ainias Smith: The rookie dealt with some nagging injuries in the summer before starting the season on IR. That’s a bigger problem than you might think as it allowed fellow rookie Cooper DeJean to run away with the punt duties. He’s on a cheap deal but can also be released with only $250K in dead cap so he’s not a lock for the roster next year.
Britain Covey: Britain Covey was named a cut candidate coming into this year but managed to make the 53-man roster. He had returned punts in previous years, but DeJean took those duties. He pretty much only plays special teams and there’s a real chance they don’t bring him back as an unrestricted free agent this year.
Parris Campbell: Campbell has been a healthy scratch for some games but was elevated for the Super Bowl. He was never really able to carve out that WR3 role for the Eagles so he’s not a priority to bring back as an unrestricted free agent this off-season.
- Reserves/Futures: N/A
EAGLES WR FREE AGENCY TAKE: The reality of fantasy football is that it’s incredibly rare for a team to have three fantasy relevant pass-catchers. If you put all the WR and TEs in one bucket, the highest scoring player that was third on his team in targets was Rashod Bateman at WR40 in PPR. They like their two TE sets anyway. So the WR3 role for the Eagles with their weapons is not a super relevant one.
That said, they could continue to look for an option to compete with Jahan Dotson. They seem to like A.J. Brown outside with DeVonta Smith in the slot for 3 WR sets then moving out wide for 2 WR sets. So a field stretcher could help as the WR3. Here are the free agent options that could compete with Dotson.
- POSSIBLE FREE AGENT OPTIONS: Brandin Cooks, Tutu Atwell, Nelson Agholor, DJ Chark, Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Eagles Tight End Depth Chart
Dallas Goedert: Dallas Goedert is under contract for 2025 and he’s drastically better than any of the free agent options anyway. If they want to draft a tight end of the future, that isn’t a bad idea to get him in and working under Goedert for at least a year. Goedert has always been a solid player but health issues have popped up virtually every season, including this one.
Grant Calcaterra: With the number of two tight end sets the Eagles use combined with the Dallas Goedert injuries, Calcaterra quietly played 841 snaps. That’s more than Goedert and fairly close to DeVonta Smith (946) and A.J. Brown (971).
He’s a better blocker than pass-catcher which doesn’t make him super fantasy relevant but I would not be surprised if he were extended. He’s under contract for 2025 anyway so they don’t need to rush.
E.J. Jenkins: Jenkins didn’t play but, when he did, he was asked to block on over 20% of his pass plays. That’s a tell-tale sign that he’s viewed as more of a blocker than a pass-catcher. He’s under contact but can be released with zero dead cap and nearly $1M in savings. If they do keep him for 2025, he could be easily retained again in 2026 as an exclusive rights free agent.
C.J. Uzomah: Uzomah was signed in October to the practice squad and was elevated to the active roster for the Super Bowl. He’s an unrestricted free agent in 2025 and could be in the mix for depth. The fan favorite is unlikely to find fantasy relevance again regardless of where he lands.
- Reserves/Futures: N/A
EAGLES TE FREE AGENCY TAKE: The Eagles are pretty set at the top of their roster for 2025 with Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra. As I mentioned, if they want to take a shot on the tight end of the future, the draft is the better place to do it than free agency.
