Tonight’s MLB DFS coverage is for the 13-game main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that starts at 7:05 pm ET. We do have Coors Field on the slate, so keep that in mind when setting lineups. Starting pitching has four headliner names in Spencer Strider, Gerrit Cole, Sonny Gray, and Corbin Burnes. Between Coors Field and those elite pitchers, value plays will be crucial today. We don’t have any mlb weather concerns today, which always makes for a more enjoyable experience. Let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day and some we can fit into our cash and tournament lineups!

 

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Logan Allen, Cleveland Guardians (DraftKings: $7,800)

Allen has pitched great through three starts with a 2.70 ERA and 19 strikeouts across 16.2 innings of work. This isn’t the easiest of matchups in the world, having to face the Los Angeles Angels, but there aren’t great value pitching options on tonight’s slate, despite being 13-games. With that being the case, I would rather take my chances on a good pitcher in a tough spot, than a bad pitcher in a bad spot. 

J.P. France, Houston Astros (DraftKings: $7,600)

France was fantastic in his debut, firing five shutout innings against the Seattle Mariners with five strikeouts to finish with 18.3 dk points, despite not picking up a win. He gets another mid-tier offense today as he will take on the Chicago White Sox and they rank 19th in runs per game this season. There is risk here, but the chances of a win are increased in comparison to some of the other value options at SP today. 

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Carlos Perez, C, Oakland A’s (DraftKings: $2,300 / FanDuel: $2,400) 

Perez is a forgotten man on the A’s as he is a part-time player and hasn’t had the big home run total of a Brent Rooker or the big steal total of an Esteury Ruiz, but Perez has played well and he has hit lefties. Against south paws this season, Perez is slashing .385/.370/.462 across 27 plate appearances. The veteran catcher is nearly the minimum price and with those numbers against lefties, he’s worth a shot. 

Dominic Smith, 1B, Washington Nationals (DraftKings: $2,100 / FanDuel: $2,600)

Smith is on a cooker right now, going 6-12 (.500) over his last four games with three RBI, five walks, and three runs scored. He has scored double-digit fantasy points in three straight games and that will be a great value play for someone who is basically the minimum price. Tonight, he faces Tylor Megill, who hasn’t been all that great this year with a 4.33 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. 

Casey Schmitt, SS/3B, San Francisco Giants (DraftKings: $2,700 / FanDuel: $2,900)

Schmitt was the cover boy for my playbook last night and he came through in a huge way, going a perfect 4-4 with a home run, double, three RBI, and two runs scored to finish with 31 points on DraftKings. He now is 8-12 (.667) through three games with at least 12 dk points in all three, so I’m going right back to the well tonight with Schmitt facing a bad pitcher in Ryne Nelson. 

Ezequiel Tovar, SS, Colorado Rockies (DraftKings: $3,000 / FanDuel: $3,000) 

Tovar has been hitting well with a .270 average, two home runs, a steal, and 18 total R/RBI over his last 10 games, good for a 9.7 dk point per game average. That has been mostly on the road and now he heads home to Coors Field. He has been far better at home on the season with a .769 OPS, compared to a road OPS of .512. 

Leody Taveras, OF, Texas Rangers (DraftKings: $2,400 / FanDuel: $2,900)

I don’t really understand why Taveras isn’t getting a price bump (on DK), but let’s keep taking advantage of it. He is slashing .378/.452/.514 over his last 10 games and averaging 9.5 dk ppg in that span. He has a home run and three steals on the season now with 26 total R/RBI across 4 games. Pretty dang good for a player at this price, I’d say. Tonight, he gets to face Ken Waldichuk and his 7.25 ERA and 1.75 WHIP.
