We have an eight-game slate that's considered DraftKings early slate and FanDuel's main slate kicking off at 4:05 pm ET on this beautiful Saturday, May 3rd afternoon. This slate definitely lacks some top arms at the top of pitcher as it's Cristian Javier and then everyone else, but that means more elite offenses to go around and getting to the likes of Paul Goldschmidt, Bobby Witt Jr., and Bo Bichette will be ideal. That being said, we'll need to dig deep for some value options in order to spend up on those names.  Be sure to check out all of our tools including the MLB Lineups page, MLB DFS Projections – powered by FanJections –, MLB DFS Ownership, and all of the rest of our tools HERE! Let’s dive into our favorite daily fantasy baseball value plays of the day.

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Daniel Lynch, Kansas City Royals

This has been an absolutely awful season for the Colorado Rockies against left-handed pitching. They rank 29th in OPS and wOBA, 28th in ISO, and their 25.5% K-rate is the fifth-highest mark in the league. Daniel Lynch made his season debut his last time out and looked good throwing 5.1 innings allowing just two runs while striking out six. The key is that he threw 95 pitches and the six strikeouts came against a Nationals offense that doesn’t strike out all too much. I like Lynch quite a bit in the value tier here. He has the chance to pick up a quality start and a win.

Austin Gomber, Colorado Rockies

Things aren’t all bad for Austin Gomber when he’s away from Coors Field. Sure he had a blow up against the Pirates, but look at his last two outings on the road and we can take some good from them. He tossed 11 innings against the Mets and Guardians and allowed just two earned runs, picking up 15+ DKP in each outing. The Royals rank 17th in wOBA, 18th in OPS, and have a 22.8% K-rate against left-handed pitching this year. He’s the cheapest pitcher DraftKings has to offer and seven batters have a price tag that’s greater than or equal to his 5.7K tag. If you’re playing multiple lineups it’s worth a shot.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Jesus Sanchez, Miami Marlins

Despite returning from the injured list two games ago, Sanchez picked up right where he left off before he suffered a hamstring pull. He homered on Friday and now over his last 10 games, he’s slashing .429/.429/.857 over his previous 10 games, which has helped him raise his season averages to a .316 AVG and .962 OPS. On the year, Sanchez has a .239 ISO and .377 wOBA against right-handed pitchers, and Luis Medina, Oakland starter, has allowed a .268 ISO to lefty swingers.

Jeimer Candelario, Washington Nationals

This guy has been on another level lately and for quite a long span. Over his last 22 games, he’s hit .333 with a 1.049 OPS including 10 doubles, two triples, and three home runs. He’s once again underpriced and hitting third here and he faces off against a Phillies team deploying an opener in Matt Strahm to start, but likely seeing Dylan Covey as a long reliever. Righties have a solid .167 ISO against Strahm and EVERYONE is hitting Covey as lefties have a .481 wOBA and .423 ISO this year. Candelario has a .253 ISO and .364 wOBA against righties this year.

Brendan Donovan, St. Louis Cardinals

Because the Cardinals have struggled so mightily to have any sort of consistency offensively this year, they’re going to keep riding the hot hand of Donovan atop their lineup. He homered again on Friday for the third time in eight games and is hitting .300 with an OPS of 1.081 over his last 10. Donovan draws righty Luis Ortiz who hasn’t been all that impressive in his first 20.2 innings thus far. He pitches to a lot of contact and struggles with lefties as LHH have posted a .429 wOBA and .211 ISO against them.

Rodolfo Castro, Pittsburgh Pirates

Rodolfo Castro is hitting lefties hard, you don’t say? He has a .328 ISO, .469 wOBA, and 47.9% hard-hit rate this year against southpaws and that’s following up the ‘22 campaign that saw him notch a .338 ISO and .382 wOBA against them. His match-up against Jordan Montgomery isn’t all that challenging considering righties have given Monty fits this year posting a .348 wOBA and .210 ISO against him. Castro is hitting right in the middle of the Pirates lineup and looking to do some damage.
