2025 Player Outlook
Donovan’s revamped swing has led to increased power numbers for the 28-year-old left-handed hitter, and he posted career highs last season in home runs (14), ISO (.140), launch angle (13.2), and fly ball rate (36.9%). He may not be a prototypical cleanup hitter, but that’s the role he’ll likely occupy to begin the 2025 season. All of his power came against RHP last season, but while it may not come with much thump behind it, he did hit southpaws at a.259 clip with an 89 wRC+. There are some questions with this St. Louis offense, but Donovan is guy who should reach 15 home runs for the first time in his career in 2025, while swiping 5-10 bags with a .275-ish batting average, all while carrying dual positional eligibility (2B/OF). Donovan will do a little bit of everything for your team, and he’s routinely drafted outside of the top 45-50 outfielders. Solid value here.

Brendan Donovan went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI on Friday evening as the Cardinals eked out a 3-2 victory over the Brewers in the opener of their three-game set.
Donovan drew a walk off of Chad Patrick to open the fourth inning, advanced to third on a single and scored the game’s first run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Nolan Gorman. He then delivered a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning that would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. With his two-hit evening, the versatile 28-year-old is now slashing a robust .366/.406/.538 with three homers, 13 RBI and three stolen bases through his first 102 plate appearances on the season.

Brendan Donovan remains out of the Cardinals lineup Wednesday due to rib soreness.
Masyn Winn’s return Tuesday was supposed to create something of a playing time crunch in St. Louis, but that hasn’t been an issue with Donovan missing back-to-back starts. Nolan Gorman is playing second base and batting in Donovan’s third spot in the lineup today.
Brendan Donovan was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup with rib soreness.
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters he doesn’t anticipate Donovan requiring a trip to the injured list. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. It’ll be Nolan Gorman at second base with Masyn Winn at shortstop on Tuesday night in his return from the injured list.
