Bichette led off the home half of the first inning with a single off of Bryan Woo and then swiped his first base of the season. He then took third on a ground ball and scored the game’s first run on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Santander. He has done a nice job as a table-setter at the top of the Jays’ lineup this season, slashing .302/.344/.395 with 11 RBI and a stolen base, though he’s still searching for his first home run on the season.

Bichette is still looking for his first homer, but he’s batting .314 as Toronto’s leadoff man. The power numbers should come; he actually has three barrels already, and his 49% hard-hit rate is better than his career mark of 46%.

The Jays wound up with 12 hits tonight, none of them going for extra bases. Still, it was good enough for a win. It’s the first time they’ve had that many singles and nothing else since Aug. 8, 2014. Bichette is off to a 9-for-24 start and has scored four runs in six games as the Jays’ leadoff man.
