Happy Sunday! Let’s continue a strong weekend of baseball with some great MLB DFS lineups! Today there is an 8-game main slate on both DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 1:35 PM EST, so make sure to get your lineups set early to be ready for a great day of baseball. Today’s slate is highlighted on the pitching side by Gerrit Cole, Freddy Peralta, and Zach Eflin, with Gerrit Cole being my favorite of the trio at the top getting to face the Miami Marlins. Plenty of quality value options on the pitching side as well today to build your lineups around. There are some great offenses to target today, with both top-end hitters and value hitters to be found. Some of my favorite offenses to target today include the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins, and Toronto Blue Jays. Endless ways to build a great lineup today, so let’s jump into some of my favorite value options of the day to help build a winning MLB DFS lineup!  

 

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Sonny Gray, Minnesota Twins (DraftKings: $8,300 / FanDuel: $9,800) 

Everything is clicking for Sonny Gray right now, with 18 strikeouts over his last two starts. He is pitching great, and despite a tougher matchup today against the Philadelphia Phillies, I see no reason to think he should go out and put up another great outing with plenty of strikeouts with how good he has been. While this is much more of a value play on DraftKings than FanDuel, he is certainly useable in either. 

Ken Waldichuk, Oakland Athletics (DraftKings: $5,400 / FanDuel: $6,800) 

I know nobody is going to be excited about starting an Oakland Athletics pitcher, but he is dirt cheap as the cheapest pitcher on DraftKings and second cheapest on FanDuel. He has a decent matchup today against the Washington Nationals and has been pitching quite well recently. In his most recent outing, he struck out 7 while only giving up 2 runs through 6 innings against the Texas Rangers. If he can put up that kind of outing against the Rangers, it seems completely reasonable for him to be able to return this value today against the Nationals. 

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Josh Bell, 1B Miami Marlins (DraftKings: $3,700 / FanDuel: $2,900) 

Josh Bell has a 1.039 over the month of August since joining the Miami Marlins and has been locked in at the plate recently with 3 homers over his last 3 games. He has been locked into the 3-hole for the Marlins since joining them at the trade deadline and should continue to give them solid offensive production in that spot. Facing Gerrit Cole today will be no easy task, but if you aren’t starting Cole, I like taking the chance on Josh Bell in this spot.

Zack Gelof, 2B Oakland Athletics (DraftKings: $4,400 / FanDuel: $3,700) 

Zack Gelof is on a great stretch for the Oakland Athletics with 5 homers and 3 steals over his last 13 games and a slash line of .277/.333/.660 over that stretch. While the Oakland Athletics is never going to bring that much excitement, if Gelof can continue to get the extra-base hits as he has been, he can be quality value and should be able to do so today against Trevor Williams and the Washington Nationals.

Ke'Bryan Hayes, 3B Pittsburgh Pirates (DraftKings: $3,700 / FanDuel: $3,100) 

Ke'Bryan Hayes certainly looks like he is finally back to hitting well after some struggles with returning from an injury. Over his last 4 games, he has 8 hits, including 3 homers, a triple, a double, and 10 RBIs. Hayes is a quality hitter, and with him getting back to form, I don’t expect his price to remain this low for long, so I would take advantage of it while you can. 

Brice Turang, OF Milwaukee Brewers (DraftKings: $3,100 / FanDuel: $2,400) 

Brice Turang has been hitless in the last two games, but before that, he had a stretch of 14 games where he slashed .381/.469/.548, along with two homers, and continues to look more confident at the plate. He certainly isn’t the flashiest hitter, but at this price, I like his chances to be able to bounce back and return value today, even against a decent pitcher in Dylan Cease.
