MLB DFS Weather Center

Colorado Rockies @ Boston Red Sox

This game has a lot of rain in the forecast, much like the last two days, and there’s a good chance we see a delay. That obviously makes pitchers in this game riskier if there is a lengthy delay. Winds blowing out of Fenway Park only make things better for the offenses.

Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers

What year is this? Kershaw is pitching incredibly well in 2023 and after years of back issues, it seems like he’s fully healthy for the first time in some years. He’s coming off back-to-back 30 FP outings and now faces a fairly bad offense. The White Sox are 18th in OPS against LHP and have nearly a 24% K-rate to boot. If Eloy Jimenez continues to miss time, the lineup is even worse than usual. Kershaw has some of the best odds for a win in his home ballpark to boot.

Luis Castillo, Seattle Mariners

Mariners pitching has owned the Marlins this series because Miami’s struggles are against right-handed pitching. Castillo has been dominant of late allowing just four earned runs over his previous four starts and has 22+ DKP in each outing. Miami is 23rd in OPS and 25th in ISO against righties this year. Castillo has been SO good at home this year pitching to a 1.89 ERA, .172 BAA, and 25.1 DKP/game.

Tyler Glasnow, Tampa Bay Rays

Through three starts, Tyler Glasnow is starting to look like the best form of himself. Will he breakdown is another story, but while he’s healthy, using him is a profitable approach. He has the best win odds on the board facing Oakland and he’s faced the Dodgers, Red Sox, and Rangers and has looked great in doing do. He has as much strikeout upside as anyone else on the slate. He’s an elite option, especially if his pitch count continues to rise into potentially the 90s.

Michael Wacha, San Diego Padres

Over Michael Wacha’s last seven starts, he’s been amazing. Not sure how else to describe it. Over his last seven starts, Wacha has a 1.05 ERA and a 25.5% K-rate. Wacha and the Padres face off against the Cleveland Guardians here and Cleveland is 25th in OPS and 28th in ISO against right-handed pitching. Wacha has a really good ballpark to pitch in behind him, and he has a 2.93 ERA at home this year, averaging 18.2 DKP/game.

Garrett Whitlock, Boston Red Sox

This is a tricky one because the weather could be an issue here. If we get word that it’s going to work out, Whitlock is an interesting value. He’s put up 19+ DKP in three of his last five starts and the Rockies offense can definitely be exploited. On the road, the Rockies rank 27th in OPS and have a 25% K-rate, which is obviously due to leaving Coors Field. As long as Whitlock keeps the ball on the ground and not in the air, he can neutralize Colorado and their high flyball rate against righties.

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Adam Duvall, Boston Red Sox

The theme of this section is the Boston Red Sox, obviously. Duvall was awesome against left-handed pitching last year posting a .329 ISO and a .361 wOBA and has home run odds at +225. Righties have hit Austin Gomber as well as lefties too. They have a .240 ISO and a .387 wOBA and a 47.4% hard-hit as well. The wind is blowing out of Boston, by the way.

Jose Siri, Tampa Bay Rays

On the year, Jose Siri has so much power against both handednesses and right-handed bats are really what gives Luis Medina an issue. Righties have a .373 ISO and a .435 wOBA against Medina on the year. He also has allowed a 59.3% hard-hit as well. Jose Siri has a .314 ISO against righties this year and this is a fantastic spot for a home run.

Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles

There have been few hotter hitters across baseball than Gunnar Henderson. Henderson, over his last 10 games, has a .432/.462/.892 and has five home runs, 14 RBI, and 2 SB. He’s homered in three straight games and four of his last five. Against righties, Henderson has a .285 ISO and a .377 wOBA this season. Lefties have a .178 ISO and a .358 wOBA against Jose Berrios this season.

Justin Turner, Boston Red Sox

Turner has been very, very good against left-handed pitching this season and faces Austin Gomber, who can’t get anyone out. Turner has a .275 ISO and a .426 wOBA against lefties this season. Austin Gomber has allowed a .240 ISO and a .387 wOBA against right-handed bats. Turner’s also been really good at home this season batting .309 with an .822 OPS as well.

Connor Joe & Rodolfo Castro, Pittsburgh Pirates

It’s hard to go with one or the other between Joe and Castro when they’re facing a lefty so why not go with both here? Both are very cheap and are going to be hitting in the heart of the Pirates lineup. Joe has a .297 ISO and a .442 wOBA while Castro has a .348 ISO and a .487 wOBA against left-handers.
