Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm MLB DFS Playbook for Sunday, March 30th!

We’re breaking down the main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel, giving you the edge you need to build winning lineups. With a full day of baseball action ahead, our expert analysis highlights the top pitchers, value plays, and stackable offenses to target.

Whether you’re chasing big GPP prizes or grinding cash games, we’ve got you covered with insights tailored to today’s matchups. Let’s dive into the key plays and strategies to dominate the slate!

This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.

The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.

The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.

The stacks section will bring you are favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

There will also be a daily MLB DFS Show with a variety of hosts ranging from myself, Jon Impemba, Howard Bender, and James Grande. The MLB DFS Show will give you an initial outlook on the day's MLB DFS slate and should give you a good base for the start of your research each day!

MLB DFS Picks & MLB Playbook

MLB Weather: Sunday, 3/30

San Francisco Giants vs Cincinnati Reds

  • Rain all day but probably not enough to impact the playing of today's game but could play wet at times.

Minnesota Twins vs St. Louis Cardinals

  • Biggest weather concern for today's slate, likely causes a delayed start and then uninterrupted play rest of the day.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers

Chalk ownership today is on a few names with big upside but also pitcher's we've seen fail to meet expectations in matchups we'd expect them to succeed with Tampa Bay Rays starter Taj Bradley taking on the Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates southpaw Andrew Heaney facing the Marlins. Both pitchers are in the mid-tier which means spending up today could be a bit contrarian but also means that folks are looking to spend their money on offense with the Phillies and Yankees getting some love.

Let's dive into today's core pitching plays for our DFS lineups.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Jacob deGrom, Texas Rangers

When healthy Jacob deGrom is the most dominant starting pitcher in baseball. I understand that health and deGrom are not exactly a common occurrence but for at least today that is the case. We saw deGrom get up to 70 pitches in his final spring outing so he should be stretched out enough to get us six or so innings today.

We saw deGrom make three starts at the end of the 2023 season and he looked as good as ever, allowing just two runs over 10.2 innings while striking out 14.

The Red Sox offense hasn't been great this series outside of Wilyer Abreu and Kristian Campbell and the Rangers are favorites today with Boston sending Richard Fitts to the mound.

A healthy deGrom IS NOT a $9,000 pitcher but more of a $10,000 pitcher so let's take the discount and hope we can finally get a healthy season from one of the great pitchers in baseball history.

Taj Bradley, Tampa Bay Rays

There was a 10 start stretch last season where Taj Bradley was the best pitcher in baseball.  Then the calendar turned to August and the final two months of the season were miserable.

Bradley looked good in spring and hopefully the arm strength is built back up enough for him to have a strong season start to finish.

With his opening start he draws the Rockies, a matchup that every Rays pitcher has had success with to open the year and I'd argue that Bradley has the best “stuff” of the Rays opening weekend starters with Ryan Pepiot and Zack Littell taking the mound the last two days.

Andrew Heaney, Pittsburgh Pirates

There is a lot of ownership going towards Heaney today and I kinda understand it. He has strikeout potential and the Pirates are using him as a starter so he should get a bit of a longer leash than we saw him get as a member of the Rangers when they would use him as an opener and swing man at times.

The Marlins offense has some frustrating hitters but nothing that is overly scary right now and if Heaney can pitch deep enough into this game while limiting the damage I do think we see him get 6+ strikeouts.

Max Meyer, Miami Marlins

Maybe I'm just bullish because I'm holding a few autographed rookie cards of Meyer that I REALLY hope to gain some value but we also can't deny the potential he has as well. The 2020 3rd overall pick got the early season nod last year and impressed over his first three starts before being stunningly demoted and then had his workload managed at the minor league level much to the dismay of those around baseball.

The Marlins called him back up in August and he was not the same pitcher as he was to start the season.

Meyer is coming off of a really good spring training and he got up to 65 pitches in his final outing so he should be able to go deep enough in this game.

The Pirates are also sitting Oneil Cruz so that lineup is a bit easier to mange.

At under $7,000 on DK and $8,000 on FD I like the upside.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

I mean, when a team hits 9 home runs and it's highlighted all day that they are now using new baseball bats that are tailored to put more wood in the sweat spot, it makes sense that we look to go right back to the well there today. Yes, the Yankees bats are expensive but so are the Phillies and they are getting a lot of high ownership today as well.

Let's check out today's core plays to build our lineups around.

Core MLB DFS Hitters

Aaron Judge, New York Yankees

The man hit three homers yesterday and yet current ownership has him coming in around 10-to-15%? He was 40% yesterday and paid it off in spades. I'm running right back to the well on this one for the leagues premier power hitter.

Edmundo Sosa, Philadelphia Phillies

If you are going to be spending up then we need to find a spend down and Sosa is that man today. He faces a lefty and last season Sosa was a monster against southpaws, hitting .284 with a .367 wOBA and a .229 ISO.

Baltimore Orioles Left-handed Bats

I'm just going to blanket statement the Orioles lefties here today in their matchup against Chris Bassitt.

This has been a matchup we've looked to target fairly often over the past few seasons as lefties just have a day with Bassitt on the mound.

Last season lefties hit .305 with a .381 wOBA and a .485 slugging percentage against Bassitt. He allowed 1.5 HR/9 and had a 5.33 FIP an 4.97 xFIP. So look for the likes of Colton Cowser, Cedric Mullins, Jackson Holliday, Heston Kjerstad and Adley Rustchman to build some lineups around.

Milwaukee Brewers Left-handed Bats

Brewers are in Yankee Stadium so we know the right-field porch is prime for left-handed power and today the Yankees are pitching Marcus Stroman who had an up and down offseason with New York, requesting to be traded and ultimately being forced to stay on the team with the injuries their rotation has sustained. Stroman really struggled in his home starts last season, boasting an ERA over 5.00 and lefties gave him trouble all season long as he allowed a .296 average, .367 wOBA and a .474 slugging percentage. Those numbers all jump when you look at his numbers against lefties in Yankee Stadium last season.

So look to include Christian Yelich, Garrett Mitchell, Jake Bauers, Sal Frelick and other lefties in your lineups today.
