We have a 9-game MLB DFS main slate on Monday, July 22nd, headlined by the diversity between the elite pitching and hitting options we have. There are elite pitching options as Cole Ragans, Reynaldo Lopez, Ranger Suarez, and Bryce Miller take the hill. We also have elite offensive options everywhere we look as the Boston Red Sox head to Coors Field and Bobby Witt, Trea Turner, and Yordan Alvarez step into the box.

MLB Weather Today, 7/22

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Minnesota Twins

  • There is a real chance that bad weather hit Minnesota and causes this game trouble, but there is also a chance that this game plays completely dry.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Atlanta Braves

  • This is Atlanta and it’s the summer. There is always a chance the storms hover around the stadium and cause issues.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Cole Ragans, Kansas City Royals

The pitching position isn’t too deep today, but Cole Ragans is again too cheap. Ragans has pitched well all year but has been great in his last two starts and three of four. Ragans has a 29.6% K-rate on the year, and it’s actually elevated to 32.8% at home. In July, Arizona has struck out 24% of the time, which is tied for 11th.

Bryce Miller, Seattle Mariners

I’m unsure if we’ve seen such wild home/road splits:

  • Home: 2.10 ERA, .188 BAA, 30.9% K-rate, .6 HR/9
  • Road: 5.51 ERA, .250 BAA, 13.5% K-rate, 2.02 HR/9

He now draws the Angels at home who rank 26th in OPS, 25th in wOBA, and 27th in wRC+ in July. Miller at home at just $8,400 on DraftKings is a silly price tag and he is likely the highest-rostered pitcher of the slate.

Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds

Although the Braves are considered an elite offense, they’ve been anything but since Ronald Acuna went down. Atlanta is in the bottom 10 in OPS, wOBA, and wRC+ in July along with a 25.7% K-rate against righties, which is the third-highest mark. They face Hunter Greene who’s coming off a monstrous outing against the Rockies. Greene’s strikeout upside against the Braves here is double digits, like he had against the Rockies.

Tobias Myers, Milwaukee Brewers

It’s pretty crazy that Tobias Myers is still priced at $7,200 with how well he’s pitched. He’s coming off eight scoreless innings before the break and starts the second half against the Cubs. The Cubs have been better but are a bottom-10 offense against right-handed pitching on the year. He has the third-best odds, despite being on the road, to pick up a win today.

Core MLB DFS Hitters

Bobby Witt, Kansas City Royals

I'm not sure you'll find anyone across baseball playing better than Bobby Witt at the moment. He's come out of the All-Star break with three straight three-hit games, is hitting .475 over his last 10 games and north of .500 over his last 15. He feels quite unstoppable at this point in time. He's been especially good at home, and he faces Yilber Diaz making his third career start.

Boston Red Sox

There are a lot of different directions you can go here considering they're in Coors Field. Austin Gomber is a lefty and that's obviously concerning with how bad Boston's been against southpaws. That being said, there are many directions you can go here:

Yordan Alvarez, Houston Astros

Yordan Alvarez has been incredible against left-handed pitching this season and Hogan Harris has struggled against lefties himself. Lefties are hitting over .300 with a .900 OPS against Hogan Harris on the year. Alvarez? How about a cool .350 AVG against southpaws.

Brent Rooker, JJ Bleday, Lawrence Butler Oakland Athletics

What a world. The Oakland Athletics lead major league baseball in OPS in July. In general, they've all been awesome, but I'm highlighting three names here. Bleday has been the worst of the three and he's riding a four-game hitting streak and has SEVEN extra-base hits over that span. Brent Rooker has been on a different planet posting a 1.585 OPS against righties in July while Lawrence Butler ONLY sits at a 1.300 OPS.

Byron Buxton, Minnesota Twins

Over the last month, there haven't been many players better than Byron Buxton across the entire league. It's the fact he's stayed healthy we're getting to see how good he can be over an extended period of time. Over the last month, Buxton's posted a .403/.453/.866 slash line and it's actually been even better against lefties over that span.

Jake Meyers & Mauricio Dubon, Houston Astros

This is a very interesting spot for Houston because they have some really solid cheap options, solid options all over, but the ballpark they're in is a big downgrade. Nevertheless, both Myers and Dubon have an .800 OPS or better against left-handed pitching this season and are dirt cheap. In a small sample over the last month, both of them have at least a .900 OPS.

Victor Robles, Seattle Mariners

This is an interesting play because of how good he's been in a short window since signing with the Mariners. But Robles has been so good, the Mariners have started slotting him second in the order with lefties on the mound. Well guess what? Tyler Anderson throws from the left side. Robles has been running a LOT lately and provides serious upside at just 2.4K on DK if he continues to get on and run.
