We have a 13-game MLB DFS main slate on Friday, June 28th, and it's an interesting slate because most of the top pitching options are in tough spots and others might be overpriced. On the offensive side of things, there are a LOT of great spots, but locating the top options will be the task we're dealing with.

Some of the names at the top of pitchers include Logan Gilbert, Charlie Morton, Max Scherzer, and Ronel Blanco. Let's dive into some of our favorite MLB DFS options on the mound and at the dish in today's MLB DFS playbook.

MLB DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, June 28

MLB Weather Today, 6/28

There’s going to be enough rain in Chicago that will either delay the game from starting, play through the rain, or find a different day to dance. More on this game later.

There are generally storms in Atlanta during the summer that pop up and cause issues. That could very well happen here, but it also could play completely dry. Atlanta summers, baby!

There is rain in the forecast, but if things play out as they look now, we should get a full game in before it comes down and causes an issue.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Charlie Morton, Atlanta Braves

I understand the trepidation here, especially considering the price, but the matchup is great. During June, Pittsburgh’s offense stalled out ranking 22nd in OPS and wOBA and 21st in wRC+. They also have a 25% K-rate and are walking just 7.3% of the time. Morton’s problem lately has been the walks, so if he can cut them down he should mow this lineup down. He’s the days biggest favorite.

Bailey Ober, Minnesota Twins

I’ve been talking about how unlucky Bailey Ober’s been for a while and maybe things have finally turned the corner based on his last two outings. Granted, both came against Oakland, but he looked great. He has the days best strikeout odds and is a favorite to surpass the 6.5 DK sportsbook set the number at. Ober faces a Mariners offense that has had more success in June ranking in the top half of most offensive categories, but they’re still striking out nearly 26% of the time vs. RHP.

Jameson Taillon, Chicago Cubs

Here’s an offer at a likely lesser-owned mid-tier pitcher. Jameson Taillon’s season is flying very under-the-radar and he’s coming off his best start of the year tossing seven innings of one-run, 10 strikeout baseball against a white-hot Mets offense. The Brewers have cooled off somewhat in June, ranking 17th in OPS and wRC+ and 29th in ISO against right-handed pitching. The 22.8% K-rate they have isn’t too bad either.

Drew Thorpe, Chicago White Sox

I’m pretty sure the 2024 consensus top-90 prospect in major league baseball is the preferred cheap pitching option of the day. He faces the Rockies who, in June against righties, have a .567 OPS and 28.6% K-rate when they’re away from Coors Field. Thorpe hasn’t flashed elite strikeout stuff yet, but he’s looked very good in two of the three starts he’s made. He needs to cut the walks down, but thankfully for him, the Rockies are walking just 6.9% of the time against righties this month.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

Highest Expected Run Totals

Core MLB DFS Hitters

Aaron Judge, New York Yankees

If anyone’s getting it done today for the Yankees, it’s Aaron Judge. Yusei Kikuchi has allowed 10 of 11 HR to RHH along with 1.36 HR/9. Judge has an 1.100 OPS and a .395 ISO vs. LHP this season. Judge has been on a tear posting a 1.250 OPS over his last 10 games.

Boston Red Sox Left-Handed Hitters

It’s really hard to list just one when Boston likely throws out eight lefties today against a guy allowing lefties to bat .474 with a .523 OBP, .718 SLG%, and .532 wOBA. Also 3 HR/9.

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers

The ONLY thing that’s good about Suarez’s numbers against lefties is technically the one that matters the most is the .224 AVG against him. That said, everything else suggests a storm is coming. 5.39 xFIP, 5.75 BB/9, 47.5% FB rate, 91% LOB. Seager’s feasted on right-handed pitching this year posting an .865 OPS, .218 ISO, .368 wOBA.

Ketel Marte & Lourdes Gurriel, Arizona Diamondbacks

Arizona is going to check in as one of my favorite stacks of the day and Marte and Gurriel are right at the forefront of it. Against lefties, Marte has a 1.073 OPS, .380 ISO, and .446 wOBA on the year and Gurriel has a .907 OPS, .195 ISO, and .392 wOBA. RHH have 11 HR, .488 SLG%, .363 wOBA, 1.56 HR/9, 47% FB, and 34% hard-hit.

Alec Burleson, St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals leader this season against right-handed pitchers is Alec Burleson, Burlson has an .879 OPS, .204 ISO, and .379 wOBA. Burlson has been rolling lately too, posting a .361/.385/.694 slash over his last 10 games. Lefties have given Frankie Montas issues posting a .457 SLG and .363 wOBA.

Jonathan India, Cincinnati Reds

It’s been three years of data and right-handed hitters just give Andre Pallante fits. This year righties have a .450 wOBA and for his career, they’re hitting .323 with a .378 wOBA. For one reason or another, India is still sub-4K and that’s a misprice with the corm he’s in. Currently, India is hitting .472 with a 1.300 OPS over his last 10 games and has been leading off every day.
