Welcome to Friday’s three-game NHL Slate. We have ourselves a short slate, so we need to make sure we are finding great value. These slates can be tricky but we got you! You can build daily fantasy hockey lineups on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo Fantasy for Friday, December 8th, but before you build those NHL daily fantasy lineups, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS projections, the NHL Value Finder, and the NHL DFS lineup generator. Let's look closer at the daily fantasy hockey top plays for tonight's NHL DFS Showdown slate.

DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Sometimes a short three-game slate isn’t a bad thing. There’s going to be high ownership with a few players, but the most important thing is that we target the correct players and look for value. We also need to make sure that we are picking the right goalie. I know that can be a challenge on its own, but there are some really good options tonight that stand out. Let’s take a look at the players we should be targeting tonight.

Recommended DFS Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Sergei Bobrovsky Vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Tristan Jarry Vs. Florida Panthers

Marc Andre Fleury Vs. Edmonton Oilers

Best Odds for a Win

Stuart Skinner Vs. Minnesota Wild

Sergei Bobrovsky Vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Joel Hofer Vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Stuart Skinner, G, Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers have been rolling of late and Stuart Skinner has been playing some amazing hockey. He’s the most expensive goalie on DraftKings, but the upside here is tremendous. He’s allowed just eight goals in the last five games and hasn’t lost in over two weeks. I’ll take his matchup against a Minnesota team playing their second game in as many nights.

Sergei Bobrovsky, G, Florida Panthers

It’s very easy to get behind Sergei Bobrovsky tonight. The veteran netminder has won his last three starts and has put up some really good numbers. It also helps that Pittsburgh is taking about 33 shots per game but are scoring under three goals per game and have a power play operating at 9.9%. We know there’s some risk here, but the upside is too good to pass up.

Joel Hofer, G, St. Louis Blues

I have no idea who Jet Greaves is, but that is an awesome name and there’s a chance he gets the start for Columbus on the tail end of a back-to-back. Joel Hofer hasn’t been great this season, but I’ll gladly take the upside here with him. It’s not sexy, but it's the right decision.

Tristan Jarry, G, Pittsburgh Penguins

This feels like a tough spot for Tristan Jarry, but on the season, he’s been very good. He has a solid 2.50 GAA and a really good .917 SV%. He’s not the problem in Pittsburgh, so maybe it’s time the rest of his team decides to support him. Like the Penguins, the Panthers are taking shots but they aren’t scoring a ton of goals. At worst, he can hit the save bonus.

Recommended DFS Skaters

Highest Expected Goal Totals

Edmonton Oilers  Vs Marc Andre Fleury (3.8)

Florida Panthers Vs. Tristan Jarry (3.7)

St. Louis Blues Vs. Jet Greaves (3.5)

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Connor McDavid, C, Edmonton Oilers

Connor McDavid has been COOKING over the last ten games. The greatest player in the world right now has six goals and 16 assists in his last ten games. He’s back and carrying the Oilers to greatness. $9400 on DK seems too cheap for a player who’s just torching the league.

Adam Fantilli, C, Columbus Blue Jackets

Adam Fantilli had three points last night and could be in for a strong game tonight. It’s not the best spot for him, but the kid has skill and he’s affordable on a short slate. We also have to remember that Joel Hofer hasn’t been great this season, so he’s not stopping every puck he sees.

Zach Hyman, W, Edmonton Oilers

The player who has benefited the most from McDavid being elite again is Zach Hyman. He has 11 goals and five assists in the last ten games and has a whopping 30 shots on goal in just the last five games. Crazy that we can get him at $6900 (nice) on DK.

Pavel Buchnevich, W, St. Louis Blues

Pavel Buchnevich has 19 points in 23 games this season and is still getting very little respect. His shot total isn’t great, but he’s collecting points most nights and it’s hard to be his value. St. Louis as a team doesn’t shoot the puck much, so it’s not all on him, but I like the spot he’s in and the value that he provides.

Evan Bouchard, D, Edmonton Oilers

There aren’t any really expensive defencemen on DK so there’s nothing wrong with paying $6200 for Evan Bouchard. He’s part of a very good power play and is always a threat to score a goal from the blue line. Don’t have to go crazy trying to fit him into your lineup, but he works as part of any Oilers stack.

Brock Faber, D, Minnesota Wild

There are a ton of good options on the back end for Minnesota to choose from, but Brock Faber is the best bang for your buck. The kid is seeing a healthy amount of ice time, playing over 25 minutes in three of the last five games and is seeing time on the second power play unit and top penalty kill. He’s capable of blocking shots, so he has a real chance of hitting the bonus. You get all that greatness for just $3300 on DK. Not bad at all.
