Tristan Jarry surrendered four goals on 30 shots in Sunday's 4-3 Game 7 overtime loss to the New York Rangers.
Jarry had not played since mid-April due to a foot injury, but returned for Game 7 on Sunday. After allowing first- and second-period goals to Chris Kreider and K'Andre Miller, the 27-year-old netminder had a clear path to a win thanks to Even Rodrigues, who beat Igor Shesterkin for a goal in the lead-up to the final intermission. That Rodrigues goal gave the Penguins a 3-2 lead which they would hold almost to the end of the game. Almost. Jarry would surrender a game-tying goal to Mika Zibanejad with under six minutes remaining in regulation, then proceeded to give up the overtime winner to Artemi Panarin just shy of five minutes into the extra period. Jarry might not be advancing in the postseason, but that takes nothing away from a fine regular season in which he posted a 34-18-6 record while sporting a 2.42 GAA and .919 save percentage.
