Welcome to another NHL DFS Playbook! Let's not sugarcoat this, tonight’s slate is going to be a challenge. We have six games on tap but many teams may elect to rest some players. This makes it challenging to predict who is going to pay and with who. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Let me do my best to guide you so we can both build winning NHL DFS lineups!

NHL Pick 'Em At Sleeper Today

Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper. There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.

Sleeper NHL Picks, Saturday, April 12th:

The Minnesota Wild are playing their second game in as many nights and their third in four, but that doesn’t mean Kirill Kaprizov isn’t in a good spot to do some damage. The Wild fell apart in the third period against Calgary, so they’ll want to move on from that pretty quickly and have a better performance tonight. Kaprizov had no shots on goal yesterday, but he’s too good for it to happen again. He’s an elite shooter and is going to get a lot of good looks.

Speaking of teams playing back-to-back games, Montreal is in Toronto tonight after losing 5-2 to the Ottawa Senators less than 24-hours ago. The Leafs are going to be short a defenceman because they don’t have the cap space to recall one and Craig Berube has said that he may turn to Mitch Marner to take a couple of shifts on the blue line. Do I believe him? Not really, but I do think Marner will see enough ice time and find the scoresheet with an assist.

Jack Eichel is not going to play tonight, so that gives Tomas Hertl a bump. He’s going to continue to skate on the second line, but he does see time on the top power play unit and has been very good on home ice. The Nashville Predators are a bad team, but they get even worse on the road. This is a great spot for Hertl and I like his chances of picking up a point.

SALARY CAP DFS

Goalie Of The Day: Adin Hill - VGK

Sticking with the Golden Knights, Adin Hill is confirmed to start tonight and he is my favourite goalie option on the slate. He has been very good this season and his numbers at home are elite. He might not see a ton of shots on goal, but he’s going to see enough action to help him hit value.

Honourable Mention: Jordan Binnington - STL

I know Jordan Binnington has given up 8 goals in his last two starts, but getting him at a discount on DraftKings has caught my attention. Seattle is one of the worst offensive teams in the league, so even if Binnington has been struggling of late, his upside is massive. I would very much consider him in a GPP even though his shot volume will be limited.

Player Of The Day: Kirill Kaprizov - MIN

If you can’t tell already, I like Kaprizov a lot tonight. Elite players will have an off night even once in a while, but it’s how they respond that counts. The Wild still have to take care of business to secure a playoff spot, so they need to come out and have a good game and I expect Kaprizov to lead the way.

Honourable Mention: Joel Eriksson-Ek - MIN

Maybe I’m just a big fan of the Wild tonight. Joel Eriksson-Ek scored four goals in his first game back and racked up eight shots on goal. He is a force on the ice in all three zones, and yet, DraftKings has him at under $6000. If we’re going to get a discount on a very good player, we have to take it.

Value Play Of The Day: Brett Howden - VGK

It’s not every day you can find a player skating on the top line for $3200 on DK, but here we are. Brett Howden is taking Jack Eichel’s spot on the top line and his matchup on paper is very good. He’s not seeing a ton of power play time and he isn’t much of a shooter, but the opportunity is enough to have me consider him as a single-bullet in a GPP. If anything, he helps you save some salary to pay up for another elite skater.

Honourable Mention: Chris Tanev - TOR

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that playing Cris Tanev tonight is a smart move. As mentioned earlier, the Leafs are going to be playing with just five defencemen, so everyone on the back end is going to see a bump in minutes. Tanev loves to block shots and I expect him to be doing a lot of that tonight, even if the Canadiens don’t generate a ton of offence. He should be able to do just enough to hit value.

Stack Of The Day - MIN PP1 ( Kirill Kaprizov - Matt Boldy - Joel Eriksson-Ek)

I didn’t expect to have so much exposure to Minnesota tonight, but here we are. The Wild have decided to go with a five-man top power play unit so that just gives the best players even more ice time. I’ve already spoken about Kaprizov and Eriksson-Ek, but if you want to complete the stack, Matt Boldy is the way to go. He’s going to get a lot of quality chances and if all three players go off, you’ll be at the top of the GPP leaderboard.
