Patriots vs. Cardinals Predictions, Picks & Odds: NFL Week 15, Sunday 12/15
The New England Patriots have their eyes set on the future. They are 3-10 and the division has already been clinched by Buffalo. At least some impressive play from Drake gives fans something to be hopeful about.
The Arizona Cardinals, however, are still in it. They’re 6-7 in a division where the leader is 8-5. Both winning the division or a wildcard spot are entirely possible. So they’ve got a lot more to lose in this one than New England. We’ll dig into those narratives, the stats, and the injuries when we make our Patriots vs. Cardinals predictions for Week 15 of the NFL slate!

Patriots vs. Cardinals Predictions For NFL Week 15, Sunday 12/15
These teams do not play fairly often given that they are in difference conferences. Both of their last two meetings were won by the Patriots in 2022 and 2020 but those were very different teams then. I mean, the 2020 game featured Cam Newton as the Patriots quarterback.
The Cardinals have struggled as of late losing their last three games to the Seahawks twice and the Vikings. The Seahawks losses are especially painful as winning even one of those games would have given them the same record as the Seahawks. The Patriots have lost three straight as well but they have only won three games all year against the Jets, the Bears, and Bengals.
New England Patriots: Post Bill Belichick
Bill Belichick has taken a new job with the North Carolina Tar Heels in college football land. And the Patriots have entered full rebuild mode under the new regime. With rookie wide receivers Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker coming along slowly, they’ve had to rely heavily on their tight end duo of Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper. It doesn’t help that they have one of the worst offensive lines in the league.
The Patriots defense has been just as bad this year. They’re only generating 2.1 sacks per game and currently rank 31st in DVOA per FTN Fantasy. The lone bright spot has been Christian Gonzalez who has proven to be a lock down corner on the outside. But teams have had no trouble working around him.
Arizona Cardinals: Back Against The Ropes
The Arizona Cardinals offense has some intriguing pieces. Obviously Kyler Murray has the mobile upside. Trey McBride has emerged as one of the league’s best tight ends. James Conner continues to run hard every week and, for the first time in his career, has played every game so far. Marvin Harrison has come on a little slow but he’s flashed at times. He’s just 22 years old after all.
On defense the Cardinals have been better as of late, especially in terms of generating pressure. They aren’t going to generate 30+ pressures every game like they did against the Bears and Caleb Williams but Jonathan Gannon’s defense has seemed to turn the corner to some degree. The unit is pretty “middle of the pack” against both the run and pass.

Some folks will look at the matchup between Christian Gonzalez and Marvin Harrison as a problem for Harrison. And it is. But the Patriots have been losing games even with Gonzalez locking down guys like Tyreek Hill. They don’t have an answer for the other weapons Arizona has.
In a shocking development, Kyle Dugger has looked nothing like the player last year that was locking down tight ends. A lingering ankle issue could be partly responsible, and he might not even be able to go this week. The Patriots don’t have anyone to slow down Trey McBride who ties Travis Kelce with 80 catches despite playing one less game. McBride and Michael Wilson in his new slot-leaning role are plenty to beat the Patriots defense that ranks 31st in DVOA against the pass. Not to mention, their 28th ranked run defense. Give us the Cardinals to cover in this.
