Lions agreed to terms with DT Roy Lopez, formerly of the Cardinals, on a one-year, $4.65 million contract.
A 2021 sixth-round pick of the Texans, Lopez was cut by Houston on the eve of the 2023 season. He then managed to become a Cardinals mainstay as a rotational interior lineman. That is what he will remain in Detroit during his age-28 season.
Texans waived DT Roy Lopez.
Per ESPN’s Field Yates, Lopez was waived with an injury settlement and is free to sign with any team if he goes unclaimed on waivers. The former sixth-round pick has appeared in 33 games for the Texans since 2021, totaling 67 tackles, 11 TFLs, and two sacks. With 29 starts under his belt, Lopez can provide valuable depth and experience to any defensive line looking to improve.
