Vederian Lowe

Lowe (6'5/314) logged an Illinois record 52 starts, giving him experience that really cannot be beaten. He has prototypical size for the position (90th percentile arm length and wingspan) and dominates the intangibles department, with his leadership and maturity a constant point of praise. Lowe has good balance and can bend well, allowing him to get low on blocks and get leverage. He has the most experience run blocking (80.3 PFF run blocking grade) — that was Illinois' main method of attack — and he has shown flashes in the passing game. He isn't refined there, however, and overall his technique needs work despite his many starts. Still, he seems to take well to coaching (he showed a lot of improvement in his one season with Bret Bielema), works hard, and has all the prerequisite physical tools to make it work. He's at an odd intersection of older (23) but still raw but has a good base to work with.
