Be sure to check out all of our tools including the MLB Lineups page, MLB DFS Projections – powered by FanJections –, MLB DFS Ownership, and all of the rest of our tools HERE! Let’s dive into our favorite daily fantasy baseball value plays of the day.
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Aaron Civale, Cleveland Guardians (DraftKings - $7,900, FanDuel - $8,400)
It’s been a solid stretch for Aaron Civale as he’s notched 12.9 DKP or more in his three outings since returning from the IL and has done that in four of his five starts this year. Oakland has the second-highest K-rate against right-handed pitching and ranks in the bottom three in OPS, wOBA, and ISO against them. What’s not to like about Civale as the board's biggest favorite?
Justin Verlander, New York Mets (DraftKings - $7,300, FanDuel - $8,200)
We saw what Max Scherzer was able to do to a Houston lineup that is missing Yordan Alvarez, but can Verlander do something similar? That remains to be seen, but the price point makes it awfully appealing to get to. After last night’s performance, Houston now has a .699 OPS as a team against righties and that’s 21st in the league. They do have a heavy right-handed lineup and that’s the split giving Verlander issues, but the same can be said about Scherzer and we saw what happened. Verlander has been very up and down this year, but he’s had 21+ DKP in two of three starts and three of five overall.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Andres Gimenez, Cleveland Guardians (DraftKings - $3,700, FanDuel - $2,600)
The Athletics are going with Ken Waldichuk to open the game and bringing in Luis Medina afterward. Both are plus match-ups for the Guardians and just because a southpaw is starting we shouldn’t shy away from Gimenez. He’s notched a .182 ISO and .406 wOBA against lefties thus far on the year. He’s been coming into his own of late posting an .822 OPS, .250 ISO, and .347 wOBA in June, all his best marks of the year. Lefties have a .350 ISO and .431 wOBA against Wadlichuk and they have a .228 ISO and .372 wOBA against Medina. Can’t go wrong here!
Jordan Walker, St. Louis Cardinals (DraftKings - $3,000, FanDuel - $2,900)
Since being recalled, Jordan Walker has been mashing everything thrown his way. He’s hitting .417 over his last 10 games and he’s hitting .339 with an OPS over 1.000 during the month of June. Because he’s been rollin’, the Cardinals have elected to move him up in the order and he’s hitting fifth on Tuesday. This is an elite spot across the industry at this price point.
Jake McCarthy, Arizona Diamondbacks (DraftKings - $2,800, FanDuel - $2,600)
At this point, there is no reason to bat Jake McCarthy ninth with how well he’s hitting, but maybe the Diamondbacks don’t want to mess up what’s working. Over his last two weeks or 13 games, McCarthy has hit .333 with a .901 OPS with four stolen bases and five extra-base hits. Colin Rea, Brewers starter, has had trouble with left-handed hitters allowing a .219 ISO and a .353 wOBA along with a 53.4% hard-hit rate.
Will Benson, Cincinnati Reds (DraftKings - $2,400, FanDuel - $2,400)
Despite not playing every day, Benson has been incredible of late. He’s hitting .393 with a 1.135 OPS over his last 10 games. He faces Noah Davis, who’s being recalled to make this start, who’s had a 6.17 ERA and has allowed a .491 wOBA against left-handed bats. Benson has a .349 wOBA against righties this year and is free across the industry. He’s a threat to homer and steal a base.
