MLB DFS Value Plays April 8: Top DraftKings & FanDuel Picks
Today’s MLB DFS slate is a six-gamer on both DraftKings and FanDuel, as there are games all throughout the day. We have Coors Field on the slate, so keep that in mind. We lack elite pitching, but you can easily use two of the top guys if you want to, as there is a lot of value plays on this slate. The game between the San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves is our biggest MLB weather concern on the slate as of right now. Let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day and some we can fit into our cash and tournament lineups!
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Noah Syndergaard, Los Angeles Dodgers (DraftKings: $7,600)
Syndergaard pitched well in his Dodgers debut, tossing six innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts. That was against the Diamondbacks, who he faces once again today. I don’t overly love pitchers facing the same team twice in a row, but he is one of the better value options on the slate today. There is risk here though, without a doubt.
Jhony Brito, New York Yankees (DraftKings: $7,000 / FanDuel: $7,100)
Brito was lights-out in his season debut, tossing five shutout innings with six strikeouts in a win against the Giants. He finished with a healthy 25.5 DK points. I like him once again today as he is cheap and taking on the Orioles. Baltimore’s offense isn’t terrible like it used to be, but it will still likely finish in the bottom half of the league.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Michael Chavis, 1B/2B, Washington Nationals (DraftKings: $2,400 / FanDuel: $2,700)
Chavis has only played twice thus far, but he has gone 2-for-6 with a RBI across those two games. He has a career OPS of .714 against lefties, compared to .676 against righties. More importantly, he is super cheap and this game is at Coors Field against a pretty bad pitcher.
Jorge Mateo, SS, Baltimore Orioles (DraftKings: 3,600)
While I may like Brito today, I can’t ignore this price tag on Mateo. He has scored 24, 16, 14, 21, 2, and 13 DK points in his six games this season. He is hitting .350 with two home runs, five steals, five RBI, and seven runs scored. At this price tag and with how well he is playing, it would be silly to not at least consider him for lineups today.
Corbin Carroll, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks (DraftKings: $3,000 / FanDuel: $2,800)
Another guy facing a pitcher I listed, but Carroll has too much upside to be this cheap. He is hitting .258 with two home runs and three stolen bases. Syndergaard is AWFUL at keeping base runners from stealing as they have swiped 30, 42, 32, and 48 bases against him in his last four full seasons. Base runners have only been caught on 11% of their steal attempts against Thor, 16% worse than league average!
Stone Garrett, OF, Washington Nationals (DraftKings: $2,900 / FanDuel: $2,800)
Garrett has only one start thus far, but it went well, going 1-2 with two walks and a run to finish with 9 DK points. He is very cheap for a Coors Field game player and he is facing a pretty weak pitcher in Gomber, so he is very much worth a shot if he is in the starting lineup today. Garrett is slashing .313/.333/.563 against southpaws in 54 career plate appearances against them.
Jordan Walker, OF, St. Louis Cardinals (DraftKings: $2,700 / FanDuel: $2,800)
Walker is off to a nice start, hitting .321 with a home run, a steal, and five RBI through his first seven games. Walker has a lot of talent and his ability to hit the long ball or swipe a base gives him plenty of upside for DFS. Lauer is an okay pitcher, but not one anyone should be scared to attack.
