Alex Bregman Underdog MLB Picks Today, 4/8: Baseball Projections + More
It’s time to start building those Underdog bankrolls again with some MLB DFS Pick ‘Em picks for today’s giant Tuesday MLB slate.
We have a full 15-game slate Tuesday that gets underway with another game between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers. With weather concerns in the area still, this series was pushed up for an early start and features former AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal.
But there is plenty of other great pitching on the schedule for tonight, including a spectacular battle in the NL East between Chirs Sale and Zack Wheeler. Are we making picks from those games? Let’s take a look.

Cole Ragans MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 6.5 Strikeouts
You’re going to have to jump on this one early before they bump it up to 7.5 strikeouts and try to make things a little more difficult. But the odds in Vegas are jumping here and the juice is getting high enough for the line to start moving. Ragans has only gone five innings in each of his first two starts, but the pitch-count is rising, and he should go deeper into tonight’s game.
Expect to see results similar to his last time out when he fanned 10 Brewers. The Twins offense has been struggling to open the season and they’ve been terrible against left-handed pitching thus far. Beyond terrible, actually.
The Twins have not only posted a miserable .134 wOBA against southpaws this season, but they’re also striking out at a 33-percent clip. With the way Ragans is throwing, we can expect his 15-percent swinging-strike rate and 11.70 K/9 to really shine through.
Seiya Suzuki MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
While the Twins might not be able to hit left-handed pitching, Suzuki certainly can, and he gets to face perennial punching bag Patrick Corbin tonight. The Rangers weren’t planning on starting Corbin until later, but the injury to Jack Leiter has pushed up the timetable here.
Coming off another horrendous season in 2024 where he posted a 5.62 ERA, Corbin is not expected to go deep into this game, especially when a hit Cubs team starts going off on him. Suzuki put together four-straight multi-hit games earlier, then cooled off for the next three. But then he stepped up again on Monday night with another multi-hit performance and we’re ready to invest in him against Corbin.
Suzuki is already posting a .603 wOBA with two home runs and five RBI against southpaws and the surrounding lineup, especially Kyle Tucker, is keeping the action going for runs scored. He should deliver with little issues tonight.
Alex Bregman MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
It looks like the new home in Boston is really agreeing with the 31-year-old third basemen. Bregman has hit safely in all but two games this season, including nine of his last 10, and has two homers and 10 RBI over his last five. Now we’re giving him lefty Easton Lucas? Yes please.
Lucas tossed five innings of one-hit ball against the Nationals but is likely to have a lot more issues with this Red Sox lineup. It also helps that Bregman, a career .277 hitter against southpaws, is already batting .429 against them this season with a .495 wOBA. Can he get on-base and score? Knock a run in? Yes, he can.

Cubs re-signed RHP Caleb Kilian to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old hurler was released last weekend after being designated for assignment, but after exploring the open market he has decided that a reunion with the Cubs made the most sense. Kilian will continue to function as extra rotation depth at Triple-A Iowa for the time being.
Corey Seager went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk to help the Rangers take down the Angels 5-3 on Thursday.
Seager had a bad first week and a half while dealing with a calf strain, but he’s collected 14 hits, including three homers, in his last eight games, putting him at .306/.368/.516 overall. Alas, it’s produced just six RBI, mostly because the Rangers are getting terrible production from the ninth and first spots in the order.
Kumar Rocker recorded his first MLB victory after pitching seven innings of three-run ball and striking out eight Thursday against the Angels.
Rocker walked none and surrendered just one double and four singles. Unfortunately, all five hits came in the first and fifth innings, resulting in three runs between them. Still, Rocker was terrific in needing just 78 pitches to get 21 outs. It’s the kind of performance that suggests he might offer mixed-league value at some point. We just wouldn’t trust him quite yet. His next start will come in Sacramento against the A’s.
Robert Garcia picked up his first save of the year with a perfect ninth against the Angels on Thursday.
Garcia got the call tonight with Luke Jackson having pitched the previous two days and retired the Angels on five pitches. Even though he’s the better reliever of the two, he’ll likely resume taking a backseat to Jackson on Friday.
Jack Kochanowicz gave up four runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Rangers on Thursday.
The surprising and misguided decision to pick Kochanowicz over Reid Detmers for a rotation spot at the end of the spring isn’t working out for the Angels. The team might reverse course soon, but Detmers hasn’t been used as a long guy and isn’t stretched out to start right away. Kochanowicz is now 1-2 with a 6.20 ERA, but at least he gets the Pirates next.
Joc Pederson went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Thursday, dropping his average to .060.
It’s mostly been hard grounders and routine flies from Pederson thus far, but given that his bat speed is unchanged from last year, we don’t have big concerns here yet. That said, this might not be the weekend he turns it around, given that the Rangers are set to face the Dodgers.
