Hello and welcome to the MLB DFS Playbook for June 12! We have a medium-sized 7-game slate on our hands tonight. We have a 7:05 pm ET start time, so you still have a lot of time to read over the playbook and all of today’s content! DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

We have a nice medium-sized slate tonight, which are always interesting as there are still enough different directions to go, but also you’ll see players with high roster percentages. Zach Eflin and Logan Webb check in as the top two priced pitchers on both sites. We do not have Coors Field on the slate, so you don’t have to worry about that when setting lineups.

Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Zach Eflin, Tampa Bay Rays

Eflin has the highest DK PPG of any player on tonight’s slate and he gets to face the A’s, so it’s reasonable for him to be the top priced arm. He has a 2.97 ERA on the year with a 0.96 WHIP. He is also coming off his best start of the season as he tossed 6.2 shutout innings against the Twins with 9 Ks and picking up the win to finish with 34.6 points. The Rays are massive favorites tonight too, which bodes well for his win chances. 

Jesus Luzardo, Miami Marlins

Luzardo is also coming off his best start of the season, firing seven innings of one-run ball against the Royals while striking out eight. He has at least 7 strikeouts in five straight starts and has had at least 5 strikeouts in every single start this year. That bodes well as he takes on the Mariners tonight who strikeout at one of the highest rates in the league this year. 

James Paxton, Boston Red Sox

Paxton is my favorite pitcher on tonight’s slate as he has scored at least 21.3 dk points in all but one of his five starts thus far. He is coming off an electric start with 9 Ks, his third start with at least eight and he also has at least 5 Ks in every outing thus far. He has a 2.70 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through two home starts, compared to a 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through three road starts. The Red Sox are also the second biggest heaviest favorites on the slate.

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Luke Raley, 1B/OF, Tampa Bay Rays

Raley has had a nice season, hitting .257 with 11 home runs and seven stolen bases. He’s been fantastic on the road with a .983 OPS, compared to an .875 OPS at home. He gets a nice matchup today against a bad pitcher. In fact, James Kapreilian might be the worst pitcher in the league; he’s been abysmal with a 7.21 ERA and 1.76 WHIP. Lefties have annihilated him, slashing .300/.417/.600, compared to the .274/.375/.368 line righties have produced. 

Rafael Devers, 3B, Boston Red Sox

Devers is starting to find his groove, going 4-12 (.333) with two home runs and three runs scored over his last three games. He now has 15 home runs and 52 RBI on the year to go along with 34 runs scored across 63 games of action. Tonight, he faces a horrendous pitcher in Connor Seabold, who has a 5.10 ERA and 1.41 WHIP through 47.2 innings this season. “He probably just has bad stats because of Coors Field” nope, he’s actually been worse on the road with a 5.40 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. 

Elly De La Cruz, 3B/SS, Cincinnati Reds

He had another monster game yesterday, going 2-3 with two walks, a steal, and two runs scored. He is averaging 14.2 dk points per game through his first six games in the bigs and has already swiped three bags. Tonight, he faces Greinke and lefties have done the damage against Greinke this season, slashing .307/.331/.544 against him, compared to the .212/.239/.315 line that righties have produced. There is a ton of upside tonight here. 

Wander Franco, SS, Tampa Bay Rays

Franco might be the AL MVP at this current moment, hitting .299 with eight home runs, 22 steals, and 73 total R/RBI. He is swinging it well currently too, hitting .300 over his last 10 games with four steals. And, as mentioned in Raley’s section, lefties have crushed Kaprielian. He’s also already allowed eight stolen bases against him this season, which obviously benefits Franco’s upside tonight. The Rays are an obvious stack option tonight.

Will Benson, OF, Cincinnati Reds 

Benson is hot right now, hitting .310 with a home run and three steals over his last 10 games. He provides a ton of speed upside, but also can run into a long ball, which makes for a strong DFS option at this price point. And, as mentioned in Cruz’s section, lefties have put a hurting on Greinke this season. He’s also been way better on the road with an .816 OPS across 12 games, compared to a .439 OPS at home, so there really isn’t a reason to not like Benson tonight as a value play.
