Rays signed RHP Connor Seabold to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 29-year-old hurler returns stateside after one year in the Korea Baseball Organization where he registered a 3.43 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 158/40 K/BB ratio over 160 innings in his 28 starts. With a strong showing in Grapefruit League action, he could work his way into the backend of the Rays’ Opening Day rotation..
Connor Seabold has signed with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Jee-ho Yoo of Yonhap News Agency reports that Seabold’s contract will be a one-year deal that pays up to $1 million. The base is a $800,000 contract that will include a $100k signing bonus and another possible $100k available with incentives. The right-hander was a standout talent at Cal State Fullerton and he’s feasted on minor league competition for six seasons. Seabold boasts a 3.80 ERA in the minors with more strikeouts (392) than innings pitched (374 1/3). That has not translated to big league success, swallowing a 1-11 record in the MLB with an 8.12 ERA.
The Rockies are releasing Connor Seabold to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.
This will enable them to make a pick in this afternoon’s Rule 5 draft. We’re not sure why the Rockies didn’t just non-tender him a couple of weeks back, but perhaps they were hoping to get some money from a team in Asia in exchange for sending him that way. Seabold went 1-7 with a 7.52 ERA in 13 starts and 14 relief appearances for Colorado last season.
Rockies recalled RHP Connor Seabold from Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 27-year-old hurler will replace Noah Davis on the team’s active roster. Seabold has already appeared in 25 games (13 starts) for the Rockies this season — registering a cringe-inducing 7.65 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and a 62/27 K/BB ratio across 82 1/3 innings.
