MLB DFS Picks, Projections, Lineups & Stacks Today: Sunday Playbook

Published: Apr 06, 2025
Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm MLB DFS Playbook for Sunday, April 6th!
We’re diving into the action with a 11-game main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel, kicking off at 1:35 PM ET. With a packed day of baseball ahead, our expert analysis is here to guide you through the top pitchers, value plays, and stackable offenses to target.
Whether you’re hunting for GPP glory or locking in cash game success, we’ve got tailored insights to help you conquer today’s matchups. Let’s dive into the key plays and strategies to dominate the slate!
This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.
The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.
The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.
The stacks section will bring you our favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.
There will also be a daily MLB DFS Show with a variety of hosts ranging from myself, Jon Impemba, Howard Bender, and James Grande. The MLB DFS Show will give you an initial outlook on the day's MLB DFS slate and should give you a good base for the start of your research each day!
Make sure you subscribe to the Fantasy Alarm YouTube channel so you never miss a show! Also, join the Fantasy Alarm Discord to get your DFS lineup questions answered by our MLB DFS team! MLB DFS Picks & MLB Playbook
MLB Weather: Saturday, 4/6
- MIA vs ATL - Likely a long delay or PPD
- LAD vs PHI - Going to rain all day, but playable.
- ARI vs WAS - Going to rain all day, be wet but playable
- NYY vs PITT - Going to have some in-game showers but nothing that should cause delays
- TOR vs NYM - Going to have some in-game showers, should be fine.
Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers
We are contending with a lot of wet weather today which can be an issue if we get an in game delay as it could ultimately shorten the outings for our starting pitcher selections.
We also have some good starting pitchers that have some tough matchups so navigating that today is also something we are looking to work through.
Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Corbin Burnes, Arizona Diamondbacks
The highest rostered pitchers today is split between Tyler Glasnow and Corbin Burnes. On paper Burnes is the lowest rostered of the two and should have the easier matchup against the Washington Nationals while Glasnow has to deal with the Philadelphia Phillies and the power they have in that lineup.
I'll take the few percentage points of less ownership here in this matchup and ride with Burnes as my top starting pitcher for today.
Jackson Jobe, Detroit Tigers
I'm a sucker for the talent but I will admit that Jobe is likely a bit too expensive. Nobody is playing him because of the price but the White Sox offense has crashed back to earth and Jobe, as long as he can find the strike zone, has the upside to match what we saw from Reese Olson yesterday.
David Peterson, New York Mets
Yes, the Blue Jays offense is a bit scary, they got off to a strong start but Peterson looked good in his first start of the season and was a pitcher last year that had some decent underlying metrics to back his production when in the starting rotation. He also has some nice strikeout upside for a mid-tier play.
Carson Spiers, Cincinnati Reds
He faced the Rangers in a home start to open the season and when everyone was betting against him he went and shut down that lineup, allowing just one run over six innings while striking out five.
The Brewers offense has slumped to start the season and we have Spiers at under $7,000 on DraftKings today. Yes, the Red offense has also been non-existent but we don't even need him to get the win to pay of the price tag.
Will Warren, New York Yankees
The Pirates are another offense that has really struggled out of the gate and Will Warren has some electric strikeout potential. Yes, he also gives up home runs and yes he also walks guys but he is the cheapest starting pitcher on the board and could have 8+ strikeouts today.
Recommended MLB DFS Hitters
Core MLB DFS Hitters
Aaron Judge, New York Yankees
Judge didn't homer yesterday so he's due for a long ball today when the Pirates send out lefty Andrew Heaney to the mound. We know Judge has some monster numbers against left-handed pitching and the Yankees lineup should be set up this season to do some damage against southpaws.
Oneil Cruz, Pittsburgh Pirates
I know I touted Will Warren but in that analysis I did mention that he walks a lot of guys and is no stranger to the home run ball. Enter Oneil Cruz who has a stunning 21% walk rate this season and we know the power and exit velo he creates when he makes contact. Oh yeah, he also already has seven stolen bases this year so, if he does walk, there is a good chance he makes a run towards second shortly after.
Brandon Lowe/Jonathan Aranda, Tampa Bay Rays
I'm going to include both in the same section because I really think I'm going to stack them in most of my lineups today. BOTH Lowe and Aranda homered yesterday off of Jacob deGrom. Both have a tremendous amount of power upside and now take on Kumar Rocker who was scorched by the Reds for six runs on seven hits, including two homers over three innings in his first start of the season.
Geraldo Perdomo, Arizona Diamondbacks
Hitting at the top of the Diamondbacks lineup with Ketel Marte on the injured list, Perdomo is hitting .344 to start the season and while he doesn't have a ton of power or stolen base potential, he is getting on base a ton which creates opportunities to score runs and drive them in as he already has 11 RBI on the year.
Spencer Torkelson, Detroit Tigers
Is Torkelson figuring it out? The first overall pick in 2020 has had an up and down major league career, in 2023 he hit 31 homers and had 94 RBI. In 2024 he saw just 92 games at the major league level and hit just .219.
He fixed his swing in the offseason, switched positions as well and is off to a hot start, hitting .345 with two homers and an OPS of 1.127.
If the turnaround is real this dude is way too cheap and way too talented.

Player News
Rays activated INF/OF prospect Tre’ Morgan from the injured list and assigned him to Triple-A Durham.
Morgan, the 90th-ranked overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline and the Rays’ 4th-ranked prospect, suffered a quad injury in the spring and was sent to minor league camp in early March. The 22-year-old hit .324/.408/.483 with 10 home runs and 20 steals in 100 games between High-A and Double-A last year. The Rays have played him at first base and both corner outfield spots, and he should spend most of the 2025 season at Triple-A.
Hunter Goodman hit a two-run homer in a loss Monday to the Rockies.
Goodman got the Rockies back into the game with a two-run homer off Anthony Benda to make it 5-3. The 25-year-old has shown some solid pop with four homers and a .468 slugging percentage over 51 at-bats, but he’s essentially a one-category player for fantasy purposes.
Mookie Betts scored twice and hit a two-run homer in a win over the Rockies on Monday.
Shohei Ohtani went 3-for-5, scored three runs and homered in a 5-3 win over the Rockies on Monday.
Dustin May held the Rockies to one earned run with seven strikeouts to get a win over the Rockies on Monday.
By allowing the run on a Kyle Farmer double, May’s ERA has erupted all the way up to 1.06. His control was the best he’s shown all year, as he didn’t walk anyone and landed 52-of-76 pitches for strikes. May has been impressive to begin 2025, and he doesn’t look like he wants to give up the rotation spot. His next outing comes against the Rangers on Sunday.
Tanner Scott hurled a scoreless ninth inning despite allowing two hits against the Rockies on Monday.
