2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Is this the year that popular young first baseman Spencer Torkelson finally puts it all together as the key piece of the Tigers core moving forward? The 24-year-old slugger showed varying degrees of growth at the plate in 2023, setting new career-highs in home runs (31), doubles (34), RBIs (94), SLG (.446) and ISO (.213). More importantly, over the final 49 games of the season, Torkelson smashed a much-improved .249/.329/.556 slash line with a .372 wOBA/.307 ISO and a 138 wRC+.
2024 Outlook: His 16 home runs in that final 49-game span placed top five in the majors while leading all big-league first basemen. Maintaining those numbers that he put up after August 7th will be crucial to Torkelson's ability to continue to grow and become one of the top young first basemen in the game.
