Kumar Rocker recorded his first MLB victory after pitching seven innings of three-run ball and striking out eight Thursday against the Angels.

Rocker walked none and surrendered just one double and four singles. Unfortunately, all five hits came in the first and fifth innings, resulting in three runs between them. Still, Rocker was terrific in needing just 78 pitches to get 21 outs. It’s the kind of performance that suggests he might offer mixed-league value at some point. We just wouldn’t trust him quite yet. His next start will come in Sacramento against the A’s.

Kumar Rocker gave up four runs — three earned — in 3 1/3 innings to take a loss to the Mariners on Saturday.

Rocker struggled to stay ahead of hitters, and threw 38-of-68 pitches for strikes before leaving. There wasn’t a ton of hard contact, but the 25-year-old’s poor command doomed him Saturday night. Rocker has alternated quality starts with shaky ones, which isn’t a huge surprise for a rookie hurler. Rocker will try and bounce back Friday, but that start is against the Dodgers. Fantasy managers shouldn’t take the chance if they don’t have to.

Kumar Rocker bounced back from a rough first start to pitch five innings of one-run ball against the Rays on Sunday.

Rocker was mostly a sinker-slider guy today, and he settled for just one strikeout, four missed swings and a 14% CSW in the 77-pitch outing. The results were fine, but it’s not a particularly encouraging performance for fantasy purposes. Let’s see what he does next weekend in a tasty matchup against the Mariners in Seattle.

Kumar Rocker was lifted after giving up six runs in three innings against the Reds on Monday.

The Rangers are one of the rare teams with seven games in seven days to open the season, and they really needed more from Rocker tonight with the bullpen already tired. As it was, they left in the about-to-be-demoted Gerson Garabito to give up eight runs in 2 2/3 innings and then turned to infielder Ezequiel Duran to pitch the final frame. Rocker gave up two homers that accounted for five runs and seven other hard-hit balls. He figures to make another start against the Rays next weekend, but he could be sent down afterwards with Patrick Corbin coming up.
