Opening Day for the 2024 MLB season is here and it’s time to start building that bankroll for MLB Best Bets and Prop Bets

The beginning of the season can be tricky as there are always things like weather concerns, pitch counts, and timing for hitters to take into consideration, but we also have a good idea as to who the bottom-feeding teams are, and which players are hot and cold going from spring training to the regular season.

We’re not going to push the chips all-in for the first day of betting, so while it’s going to be super-tempting to throw down a ton of action, restraint and patience are our best friends right now. Let’s get to our first edition of MLB picks for the 2024 season!

MLB Best Bets For Opening Day, 3/28

Cardinals vs. Dodgers Prediction

While a two-game set isn’t exactly a sample size we want to work off, the Dodgers have played some meaningful baseball and are looking to push forward in their quest for the 2024 World Series title. They also need to show they are pushing the Shohei Ohtani saga behind them. They are loaded with star-studded talent and were one of the best -hitting teams against right-handed pitching last year.

The players are very familiar with Miles Mikolas, and many have a strong track record against him. Couple that with Tyler Glasnow getting his second start and hopefully throwing another 75-80 pitches against a very banged-up Cardinals offense and we’ve got a win for the Dodgers and…by more than one run.

Twins vs. Royals Prediction

This is a fantastic pitching match-up with Pablo Lopez squaring off against Cole Ragans and both should have a successful day. The Twins had the fifth-highest strikeout rate against lefties last season and Ragans looks to be in top form coming out of his spring outings.

Lopez may have struggled a bit this spring but should have little trouble dominating a Royals lineup that features Bobby Witt and not a whole lot else. Kansas City was a bottom-five team against righthanded pitching and not much of this lineup is any different. With both aces on the mound, we should see a low-scoring game.

Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Prediction

On the surface, this looks like a pretty one-sided affair. Zac Gallen is a dominant hurler facing a soft Rockies team that couldn’t hit its way out of a paper bag last season and struck out 25.4-percent of the time against righties.

Lefty Kyle Freeland is taking the mound for the Rockies and while he’s not exactly a pitcher in whom you trust to keep the score down, this is still the first game of the season and Arizona was one of the weakest-hitting teams against lefties all season last year.

They didn’t strike out a bunch, but a .315 wOBA against southpaws ranks them in the bottom-10 of the league. Gallen should neutralize the Rockies hitters and while the Diamondbacks should score some, it seems unlikely that this game is going over.
